Backwoods Bastard (2017) Christiansen

Five and a half year Backwoods: Has been a hot minute since I’ve got into some really deep Founders: Malt & bourbon nose. Hints of subtle smoke. Huge caramel sweetness that’s smooth as all get out. That’s a great cellar beer.

Ultimate Oktoberfest Christiansen

1-1/2 12oz bottles poured into the Mini-Maßkrug; Bottled 7.25.22. Caramel based, sweet aroma. Textbook amber hue for OG Märzen. Bourbon barrel is very forward, and warming on the way down. Kinda hides a lot of the base beer qualities though. Hmm…

Imperial Stout (2015) Christiansen

This is a super special treat. A dark, oily pour off. Roasty and dark. Maybe just a touch past the prime, but not in an undrikable way. That’s something special.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2018) Christiansen

Bottled 2.18.18: Roughly 3.5 years in the cellar. Definitely some boozy aromas. Roasted coffee is still very forward and still carrying some bourbon legs. Chocolate & maple coming alive just as it warms for a nice ending.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Christiansen

Bottled 8.12.21: Not as “syrupy” as some KBS pours can be. Really rich cocoa body, sweet vanilla follows. I’m not getting a lot of cinnamon right away, but for sure as it warms. Decent, smooth BA character. Definitely a KBS, and a solid variant at that.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Christiansen

Bottled 7.7.21: She foamed up pretty good while pouring out. Amber bodied brew with some bourbon-boozy aromas. Body is definitely sweet and bourbon/whiskey reminiscent. Maybe a touch too sweet for my own liking, but hits on the head for Old Fashioned.

Nemesis (2021) Christiansen

Bottled 3.9.21: A rich, red brown body with a bit of a slightly boozy-sharp nose. Elements of some earthy-woody tones too. Mild malt & big hop and bitter bite right up front. Not a resinous hop based ending, but definitely not my cup of tea here.

Panther Cub (2021) Christiansen

Bottled 2.2.21: Pulled out of the fridge, no big aroma. First flavor is of a highly sweet vanilla-maple mix, rounding out fairly robust, a little chewy, but pretty smooth. Definitely a tad boozy. This will be fun to see what age does to it.

American Hopped Pilsner Christiansen

Big herbal nose. Fairly standard gold pour. Not as herbal in taste. Fairly clean, a touch of hops. A little light though. Meh, it’s an OK session craft Pils.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2017) Christiansen

Dug this out of the basement to share with friends. The maple-sticky factor is very prevalent. The coffee is a little faded out now. Hides the boozy factor well three years later. Nice stuff.
