Btl Nov.27.23 huge chocolate followed w/ hazelnut and vanilla and coffee. Barrel blends into the finish and rounds out the sweet adjuncts. Full bodied sweet stout. Fun recipe - great execution imho

MI Pilsner (MI P1LSNER) Not

Pretty decent pils. Some good crackery malt and continental hop bitterness. A bit sweet and light but the bones are good.

Dirty Bastard Not

Lots of cherry - maple throughout. Just too sweet. Maybe more time to be special.

Double Red X Not

Awesome color. Hops play a moderate old school bittering role here supporting the - not a modern fruit profile. Filling but not quite an ipa imho

Backwoods Bastard Not

This used to feel so special, it’s still good but seems thinner and less rich than I remember (it’s been a while). Barrel is in sync with the recipe.

French Toast Bastard Not

Pkg 8.23.23 maple and vanilla bomb! It’s all there and SO good for the intended recipe. Barrel is buried in sugar, a lil cinnamon and only appears to lighten the finish up - which the fine line that makes this special.

Maple and caramel some spices then barrel comes in and makes this fun. Almost a spiced rum flavor results sweet and complex

750ml bigass bottle. 2020 big brew healthy dose of barrel of sticky also some stringency/ barrel forward. Maybe age or design who knows?!

Great head on this, getting some subtle fruitiness throughout but still centered per style. Fun, progressive, light, clean.

Ultimate Oktoberfest Not

Nicer than I thought it would be wow. Still sweet and full bodied with a little character not some barrel bomb. Malt is superseded with oak earthy heat though. Drinkable at 10% Prost!

Canned juice, a little rindy finish. Soft, not a lot of definition in the hops though. Easy drinking.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Not

Great deep flavor unlike anything I’ve tried. Slightly chilled this is full of character. Dark fruit, wood alcohol only at the end. Still thick after barrel influence. Worth the price, very special.

Love the idea of roasted barley in a barleywine, but this recipe conflicts w huge hop doses. Maybe better blended w a few yrs age? It's trying to be everything at once, missing. Bitter finish. Interesting, not great for me.

B.A. DISSENTER IPL Not

Interesring fruit flavor in this. I love that its hopped after aging. Different. Actually works well with barrel somehow. Any lager character is lost in this.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Not

Btld Oct.20 Forgot how good this is. Huge chocolate, vanilla lactose coffee blended nicely. Maple seems muted. Sweet, but deep roast is filling and offsetting.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Not

Maple has faded. Nice coffee and roasted malt flavor. Barrel influence is perfect, not over done still a good full body. Sadly this is my last bottle, such a full rich brew.

Underground Mountain Brown Not

2019 750ml. The sweet malty imp brown is a great match for the alc heat and barrel flavors. Sumatra coffee is heavy but certainly rounded/ blended after aging a yr or so. Great brew...
