Saint Lamvinus (2023)

Yay for obscure Cantillons showing up in Sydney! This one's a red wine lambic. Really good, lots of fruity wine flavours.

DKML

2018 release, still good all these years later. 14% BBA 'malt liquor' which is functionally an American style barleywine (or corn wine I guess). Boozy, bourbon, oak, bittering hops. Good stuff.

Cantillon Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2017-2018)

Excellent super smooth lambic. Supposedly a saison as the base beer and there is a little bit of grain character but no saison yeast flavour -- it's all lambic pickle juice. Really really good.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2021)

Very dry lambic, fruit not prominent. Lovely, but I think regular Cantillon or any Tilquin beats this. Too much on the acetic side not enough on the flavours side. Good funk lurking at the bottom of the bottle and better cold.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek (2019)

Plain gueze / lambic flavours more than kriek / cherry, which is fine by me.

Rad horsey pickled jalapeno good times. Love this.

Barrel Runner (2019)

Ancient bottle of rum finish IIIPA. Amazingly the hops are still present, at least as a bittering agent. Actually pretty decent, and just heaps of booze which doesn't hurt.

2-Year Unblended Oude Lambiek

Smooth as Smoove B, this one. Some pickle juice flavour, also mineral notes. Just all round nice. One for Mark H.

Kriek Boon

A little too sweet but still very nice cherry sour.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°5

Damn that's a dry beverage! Like a glassful of the juice from a jar of pickled jalapeños, but rimmed with silica gel. Good though! I think Tilquin & Cantillon are a level above this, but still very very nice.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019)

Ahhhh, good old KBS. Nice to find a bottle in Sydney. The coffee makes it different to other bourbon barrel stouts.

Barrel Runner (2018)

Elderly rum barrel mosaic IPA. The hops have faded a little and it now tastes like whisky marmalade, heavy on the whisky. Good, and I'd love to try a fresh one. Thanks Darren H. for hooking me up.

DKML

Just tastes like a bottle of bourbon, so not too shabby. No malt character, no hops, just barrel only.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek (2019)

Fine barrel sour, heaps of cherry flavour. I suspect schaarbeekse are like morello cherries. Smooth and tasty. The only con is a slightly heavy carb, giving a bit of a soda stream vibe.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio

If you see a bottle of anything Cantillon, just take the pain to the wallet and buy it. As always, this is like drinking the juice from the finest pickled jalapeño jar.
