2nd from left. Pristine example of the style. Mega clean with low DMS and acetaldehyde perfect for style.

Left. Great balanced beer but malt, body, residual sweetness all high for the style.

Weak head. Pretty OK. Bit too bitter, not hazy enough. Not enough juice. Nicely floral nose at least.

Keeping it old school. Crystal malts and citrus-resin out the wazoo. Big and bitter.

The coffee is the star of the show here. Classic earthy dark roast. Shame I have such a low caffeine tolerance, would love to finish this one. Definitely worth revisiting. The ashy dark roast character is evident on the aroma. Not my thing.

The best of the old school west coast DIPA's is still hanging on in 2023. Aggressive but balanced and drinkable. Fusels are a bit high, could use a cleaner yeast.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Hayes
Is it worth it or worth the money? Not for me. Lots of fusels and alcoholic off flavors despite the complex base and delicious adjuncts.

Delicious and complex brew with the lees added. Loads of layers to unpack.

Quite delicious but lacking yeast character and complexity. Mostly orange and sweet and not much else.

Very solid. Nice yeast character and some fruity sweet orange peel like flavor.

Meh, kinda regret the 4 pack. Not a great Tripel, not bottle conditioned. Too clear. Decent flavor, yeast character is boring/lacking. Lots to improve here but not bad.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Hayes
Absolutely disgusting. I'd probably hate whatever mixed drink this is based on. Tastes like bottom shelf whiskey mixed with tons of orange syrup.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018) Hayes
Good beer that becomes great once it warms. A bit like a maple bourbon barrel-aged Barleywine but sweeter and without any hop flavor and lower bitterness.

Sometimes it's worth revisiting the OG's. Basically like a scaled up oatmeal'd version of their porter, with an amazing head and great balance, hair on the bitter side. Love it. Not as good as on tap but great.

Bottle Shop Series: Nemesis Hayes
Possibly the best Barleywine I've ever had. Hoppy, bitter like a Barleywine, with the roasted malts like Founders porter. Super unique and awesome beer that stands alone.

As fresh as it gets! Classic beer that still holds up! Malty hoppy and complex.
