Hoppier than I expected for a hazy and less tropical and fruity (mostly grapefruit) than a lot of others in the style. Not my fave but wouldn’t turn one down.

Ginger, Spice, Barreled And Nice Swanson
Barleywine is a nice backbone here. Gingerbread is at decent level. Enjoying the cloves and nutmeg, and vanilla is practically always welcome. Biggest gripe is a bit unbalanced—bourbon-heavy back is drowning out the spicy front. Happy New Year, everyone!

Feel about the same. Little hazelnut up front, big bourbon bash on the backend. Thanks for sharing, Eric S.!

Strong, citrusy-acidic nose from the TDH. Taste suffers a little compared to the awesome nose but there is some decent citrus and hops to keep it interesting. SBS #2.

Not thin, not super chewy. FT elements (i.e., bready, cinn., vanilla) and BB discrete, not well-blended. Maple and cinn. super strong, vanilla also strong. Hits the intended mark well, no question. Do I want more? Not so much. Late check-in from Dec 2022.

I registered it as a pretty decent, though noticeably more complex, red but reading the backstory netted it a higher score and made me appreciate it a little more. Nabbed out of the bargain bin to boot. Not a go-to style for me but an enjoyed side trip.

Yum, is smoother (and hazier) than its paw (which I am a fan of and can’t believe I haven’t checked in!).

Definitely sweet-ish cherry ale first, with subtle notes of the maple, then bourbon. The notes are pleasant and enhance the beer for sure, but I think I expected them to be more prominent (which is on me).

I wanted the hazelnut to be a little more distinct (for me). But still yummy dessert-y stout with the solid KBS backbone. Late check-in from earlier in the week. Thanks Tom G.!

Fine milk stout but promises more than it delivers: all the s’more nuances don’t come through strongly/get lost.
