Prominent but not heavy grains, light floral and lemon touch. Pleasant rich yet light texture. Refreshing

Surprisingly rounded and balanced for 17.1% abv. It brings sweet red fruits, dates, raisins, milky chocolate and a pronounced and lingering but smooth warming rhum booze.

Dried red fruits,sherry vibe, milky chocolate, caramel, pleasant spice mix that is hard to really place, warming booze. Lovely barrel profile. Pretty smooth and mellow with a warming kick

Bigger Doink

Mango, grapefruit, sweetness & some malty and bready notes, peach hop saturation along w. a light spice note to it. Medium bitterness. Decent but suffers from the same challenge as many TIPAs. It becomes too sweet and quite boozy, a little muddled as well

Good Night, Mekong

(4.7) Very nice coffee stout. Nice mix of roast, fruity coffee, chicolate, solid body, some pleasant sweetness, vanilla, mild bitterness and a smooth finish. Well-integrated beer that hides the abv well. Best of the series for me

Adambier

Booze covered raisins, red wine cherry, caramel, roasted malt. Finish has some sweetness and booze. Rich texture. Appreciate the revival of an old style. Like it a little less than I recall from batch 100, but still a nice brew

Barley Wine

Zesty citrus, malty bread, pine, a somewhat strange artificial vibe, a touch of candy and a moderate bitterness. Feels a little harsh but still decent. Big brother is definitely more my style. Hoping for better results with the TIPA

Starts off quite acidic, but the palate quickly adjusts leaving room for an enticing sweet floral profile along with apples, orange and a subtle funk. Pronounced and pleasantly presented flavour profile that marries the sour, fruity and sweet

Red Wedding (2023)

(4.35) Loads of chocolate, light licorice, sweet red fruits, fruity roasted coffee finishing in a warming booze. Lingering warmth. Thick and decadent.

Beer Geek Breakfast

(3.6) Never reviewed this. Roasted coffee and malt along with quite significant bitterness from both the coffee and hops. Generally a roasty expression with bitterness and some sweetness.

Humle Sovs

Sweet citrus and floral with a little artificial touch. Mild to a little moderate bitterness. Quite thin. Easy drinking, just uninteresting

Altbier

Bready, malty and caramel malt sweetness & a present bitterness along with strong spicy yeast ester profile. It does feel like it also has some yeasty (off)-flavours that unfortunately dominates especially in the finish. However I did finish it

White Wedding (2023)

(4.1) sweet chocolate, toffee, roasty coffee and some nuts ending in a warming but not overpowering booze. It does have a pretty pronounced alcoholic feel in the aftertaste that prevents it from truly shining. Thick, sweet and quite boozy overall

(4.4) Pretty much same as last time, but with more lemon at this age and without the pineapple

Royal Oak

(4.3) Raisins, prunes, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, light roast, some dried red fruits and heavy booze. Burning boozy finish. Thick. Definitely a bit too heavy on the booze for me to really excel but a nice and complex experience

Imperial Stout

Roasted malt and some coffee, quite a bit of licorice, milder (not too dark) chocolate, some sweetness and bitterness. Feels a tad thin, but quite enjoyable and like how they bring the licorice out in this

BIG STONKS

Zesty grapefruit, grape skin and some passionfruit, high bitterness. Ends pretty dry. This feels more like WC than NEIPA to be honest

Neu Zealand

(4.1) Drinks like a quite hoppy & potent Pilsner. Has underlying grainy profile with some malty sweetness and a nice gooseberry and spicy profile. Finishing w. some pine and high bitterness. End pretty clean with only a little lingering (bitter) notes.

6th Anniversary

Somewhat sweet, pine along with citrus that is a little candy-like along with a slight herbal character. Refreshing

Kope-Niu

Heavy roasted & quite bitter coffee and some chocolate w. quite subdued underlying lightly toasted coconut & a warming booze. Texture is full & somewhat creamy. The heavy roast & coffee is very dominating, which is fine but makes it a bit 1-dimensional

DDH Slice of Sunshine

Clean taste profile. Lemon, grape skin, a Chardonnay vibe along with sweet pineapple. Moderate to high perceived bitterness. Drinks very clean and smooth. Modern west coast for sure. Enjoyed this more than the normal version.

Hverdagens Helte IPA

(3.3) classic hazy. Peachy with loads of hop saturation and sweetness. Nothing wrong with it, just plain and ‘old school’. Goes down easily but not really a challenging brew

Killer Pale Ale

Starts off with bright orange and soft floral vibes (it’s less than 2 weeks old). More sips in it falls off a bit with more malt and slightly more harsh grapefruit. Moderate bitterness. Starts as a 3.75-4 but quickly fades to 3-3.25.

House of the Dragon

Chili is certainly present and on the high side. It just doesn’t really do anything beyond well being chili. It doesn’t really complement anything. It also has some roasty malt and light chocolate. Or in other words: it’s a chili beer

Somewhat artificial citrus and stone fruit, especially apricot along with heavy pine. Somewhat metallic. Touch of candy sweetness. High piney and quite harsh grapefruit bitterness. Lingering candy and malty sweetness. Modern west coast?

Holiday Ale From To (Til Fra via Mikkeller)

Roasted coffee, difficult to place spices, quite some sweetness. Lingering roasty finish. After reading on the can, I can recognize the cloves & star anise - probably why I think it is fine but not great (not a big fan of star anise and the spice profile)

Neu Pilsner “Kaltgehopft”

Malty, floral with some mild spice, light citrus and a grainy sweetness. Moderate bitterness. Light but full-bodied. Probably random but remember the original as being better

Christmas 2022

Sweet, light roast, loads of spices and a light darker malt profile. It is nice enough to drink, just feels out of balance. It has a little too thin texture for the taste profile. It is not watery though.

I was excited seeing a WC TIPA. Peach, hop saturated, some pine, earthy, good grapefruit but still quite some sweetness which lingers together with a moderate bitterness. A little too on the sweet side. Fine but suffers from this ailment like many TIPAs

Mikkeller XMAS Vienna Lager Classic

Malty, caramel, a little fruity and some malty sweetness. No idea if this is different from the normal classic. I recall that one as a little more refreshing and fruity

lemon, pine, mod. peach and some light-mod. candy. Moderate-high bitterness.

Saint Huck

(3.1) Roasted, dark malts, very light licorice and some mild bitterness

BETAMAX

Orange pith, pine, bread, light onion, some floral almost perfumy vibe, peach, passion fruit & some candy sweetness. High-moderate high bitterness w. quite a bit of residual sweetness. Full texture. Good but a bit of a strange flavour combo

Ris A La Ale (2022)

Shared. Sweet and quite artificial and a little perfumy flavour. Sweet cherries. Finish is perfumy and a little harsh. Quite thin but not very watery texture. Ok gimmick, but quite meh

Jule Malt 2.0

Rich pretty dark chocolate, fruity sweetness (like bourbon), some booze, light roast

Post Cologne

Mild and pale grains with some spruce and spice to it. Easy drinking and fine tasting experience

Wunderbock (2022-)

A more hoppy bock. Toasted malt along with some milder grain. Malt-centric for sure but also with some floral, spicy and light lemony notes to it. Moderate lingering bitterness along with a malty sweetness. A little harsh in the finish to really excel

MINIDISC

(3.9) Grapefruit, floral, pine and melon. Moderate to moderate high bitterness. Full texture (especially for 5%). Quite clean finish, but it does come off just a little harsh, which subtracts a bit but otherwise a nice WC session ipa.

Moonage Daydream

Peach, orange and melon along with some sweetness. It ends quite dry though. Light bitterness. Full and quite rich texture, especially for 5%. Very nice for a session. If rated to style you can add 0.25-0.4

Chemtrailblazer

Mix of grapefruit and sweet citrus, mango and some light pine. Profile is a little on the overly sweet side without being cloying in any way. Very drinkable with a full but light texture. You can tell it’s 6.5%/not a double - imagine great for summers

Annus Mirabilis

Sweet and thick with heavy peach, orange, mango, heavy hop saturated with a slight pellety vibe. Mild to non-existing bitterness. Within bbd but to be fair literally last day. Adding 0.25 to account for this

Caraxes

Limbo foundation is easy to spot yet hard to explain. Sweet with an only mild artificial note it it. Light sourness to it as well. Mix of raspberry & pear. Easy drinking and good for an NA beer, but the light base just makes it too lemonade-ish to excel.

Beer Geek Vanilla Shake (Whiskey Barrel Aged 2019)

(3.8) mix of dark and milky chocolate, coffee roast, booze, perfumy vanilla, light bitterness and some finishing dark chocolate.

Breakfast Stout

Roasty and fruity coffee, quite a bit of sweetness, medium to medium-light type chocolate, light to light-medium bitterness. Full but not thick texture. Easy drinking, but not the most complex of experiences.

George Bourbon BA

(3.85) Dominant quite smooth bourbon. Heavy roast and some smokiness. Some sweetness as well and a little to moderate booze.

4 Giants IPA

Malt-centric, insignificant sweetness compared to what you see in 9+% abv these days. Grapefruit, pine & some earthy & floral vibes. High bitterness. A little harsh. Old school ‘imperial’s Plus for the lack of sweetness - would be great w. more fruitiness

All Day Vacay

Light grain body together with a strange artificial lemon and loads of lemon peel that overpowers and really brings this out of balance. Super artificial and harsh flavour profile. Sorry, Founders but you are way better than this. Did not finish

Castle Black Stout

(4.35) Cocoa, mix of milky and quite dark chocolate, crackers, some light roast, natural vanilla (the one that isn’t perfumy), prunes, dates, pleasant warming - and a little boozy bourbon. Quite some sweetness in the finish.

Triple Trippy Too

Peach, guava, mango, orange and some light earthy vibes together with malty bread. A little sweetness, but not overly so. Rich and somewhat fluffy texture. Limited booze. Well-balanced.

Reptilicus In Space

Strong peach, some grass and hop saturation, lemon zest and grape skins. Moderate to high bitterness. Thick and rich.

Saint Lamvinus 2020

Lovely balance of fruity and acidic notes. Floral, fruity grape skins, light funk. Nice dry finish. Glad to try this

Coffiend Brun

Roasty coffee with a mix of fruity and bitter roast with some light sweetness to it. Not really getting the flavour profile that is described on the can. A little watery texture. Not bad just not as advertised or that special

Green C's

Wow this sure is green! Herbal, vegetable with lots of hop bite. Difficult to taste much else, but it has a lemony & slight sweetness to it as well. High bitterness. It unfortunately has a slight pellety vibe to it. I think I outgrow this old school style

Astral Sabbatical

Less pineapple than last time but still significant presence. Grapefruit, bitter orange, light candy & a more grassy & herbal expression this time around. Mod bitterness. I wonder if the brewing process/equipment/yeast has changed at D&B since last year

Teela

(3.9) stone fruit, especially peach and tangerine. Some grass, some pineapple sweetness. Moderate bitterness. On the somewhat sweet side but not in a way that overshadows the experience

Īta

Grape skin, citrus followed by a less distinct herbal note, some papaya. Moderate bitterness. Feels a bit muted and a little harsh on the finish, but otherwise not a bad brew.

Versus: East of the Sun

(3.4) Melon, sweet, grapefruit, pine, somewhat harsh in that order. Moderate to slightly high bitterness. Full and somewhat rich texture. Sweeter than the other. Prefer this one as the other seems harsher (not just more bitter) in comparison

Versus: West of the Moon

Pine, grapefruit, lemon grass, some harshness and a perfumy note. Moderate to high bitterness. Full but light texture. 5 months since canning (but within bbd), so rating stands, but likely cleaner taste profile closer to canning

Oculus Orbus

Green and pine, candied pineapple sweetness, some lemon zest, quite harsh finish. Moderate to high bitterness. Not like I remembered it (also 5 Months from canning, within bbd though, so rating stands)

Gammel Flamme

Better on tap. Pine, citrus and nice pronounced bitterness without being harsh. A little watery but nothing that is an issue - it just adds to the drinkability.

Syrax

(3.8) Sweet (blood) grapefruit, some light candy vibes, herbal character along with some peach. Mild bitterness. A little artificial. Good depth in flavor and texture for its abv. More balanced and without the artificial and this would be a banger

Big Worse (2015)

(4.35) Oxidized notes of butter, sherry and sweetness along with caramel, more dark and dried fruits. Smooth and very rich and full textured. Like the aging of this

Slice of Sunshine

(4.3) WC with a bright(ish) fruity twist, less pine and grapefruit and some more sweetness. Lemon, passion fruit, grass, some pine and grapefruit, light candy sweetness. High bitterness. Only some bitterness lingers between sips

Good Morning, Vietnam

Pleasant and pronounced roast with a dark maltiness to it. Some fruitiness and sweetness and some moderate bitterness. Great creamy texture. Good carbonation and head retention. Easy drinking yet quite rich. Good old school vibe with a fresh twist

Eye In the Sky

(3.7) Colder fermented IPA, fun idea. The impact is hard to tell, it feels sweeter so maybe more residual sugars? It also feels like the malt base used is lighter. Not a huge impact. Orange, berries, sweetness and some herbal note. Mild bitterness

Scarlet Dawn IPA

Pretty boring but no brewing issues. Malty, amber/caramel, citrus, floral with a somewhat harsh touch to it. Moderate bitterness. Lingering malt together with a floral touch

Vienna Lager

Neu Pilsner

Malty backbone without being overpowering. Herbal and slight spice with some light citrus and a (somewhat) subtle grainy sweetness with a slight candy vibe to it. Moderate bitterness. Light but full-bodied. Goes down easy without being boring.

Fun House

Grapefruit, passion fruit, pine and earthy. Strong bitterness. Not sweet or malt-centric. In other words exactly as described a modern WC. Finish is bitter without lingering and keeps it dry in the finish. Would love a bit more fruitiness to the modern WC

Damn Dark Stout VII

Chocolate, roasted note, light nuttiness with hoppy and sweet touch. Refreshing but at the same time light vibe to it

Limbo Yuzu

Revisit, this time in different settings and without food pairing. Quite different experience. It feels like a somewhat watered down yuzu juice with a sharp citrusy/lemony profile. Still not bad but just feels like a too sour lemonade

Public Consumption

Shared. Sweet peaches with some floral and pine notes to it along with a bit of a strange, not great, taste that it couldn’t quite place. Not a bad beer, just overly sweet

Iron Throne Wit

Shared, somewhat perfumy and a bit harsh - otherwise like a sweeter witbier. But to be fair it is also not my favorite style

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio

Heavy apple, moderate sourness. Very balanced and smooth. Shared so didn’t take a lot of notes. Will have to revisit this one to explore it further

KBS Espresso

Heavy espresso roast almost like a porter. Moderate chocolate with the espresso roast and barrel really standing out. Notes of wood, dark fruits, some spice (not vanilla), some sweetness and booze. Easy drinking despite the abv - espresso-centric

MBCC 2022

Yup, that is Belgian alright. Yeast-centric but unfortunately more in a doughy way than a fruity fashion. Followed by light citrus and some spicy notes. Finished it but would not recommend I am afraid. Got it as I missed out on Mbcc this year

Underground Mountain Brown

Great coffee flavor, roasty along with some sweetness, light fruitiness and some mild booziness.

Camba Collab

Forgot to take a picture or detailed notes. Fruity forward beer with a citrus and tropical mix. A bit muted flavors.

Zeus

A bit harsh finish that distracts from the overall taste experience, but apart from that a nice mix of tropical and citrus flavors with a nice bitterness to it and some good but not overpowering sweetness

Tropical Rumble

Heavy underripe mango along with passion fruit followed by the peach. Apart from the adjuncts coming through, there is also an underlying sweetness, light malt profile and some lemony sour notes to it. Comes off a tad artificial and slightly harsh

Saison

(3.8) lemon zest, peppery, cloves and a general mix of spices. A malty backbone and some mild acidity along with a fruity and quite dry finish with lingering lemon zest and spices. Pleasant and interesting

Ich Bin Raspberry

Barn and sour raspberries on the nose. Moderate raspberries and some sour unripe strawberries follows in the taste which might just be a result of a concentrate or yeast. Interesting enough for its abv (a plus) but overall a bit boring and slightly harsh

Goat Star

Thick and somewhat sweet and boozy but that is to be expected for the style, I suppose. Floral, herbaceous, lemon, peach, heavy hop saturation and artificial sweetness. Not much difference from an average TIPA/QIPA but with a quite pleasant taste profile

Mirror Me

Very roast forward hiding any taste impression making it quite singular. Light bitter coffee. Not bad, but not great either. Did not finish, I’m afraid

Drink'in The Sun (0.3%)

A nice revisit - a bit on the sweet side.
