Checking in mostly as reminder to self, don’t take this for granted. Snells of a great cherry pie coming out of the basement oven, with an earned sweetness from being loaded with fruit, gently tart, great mouthfeel, an excellent palate opener.

Surprised I never checked this in before. Fresh a fresh-ish bottling. So bright, deep and perfect.

This is hardly a check-in beer. But I post this to salute the 120th birthday of the brewery, founded this day in 1900 in its present site. This 2013 bottle has tempered acidity, fantastic depth of cider and citrus notes, a touch of oxidation.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek Boon Rega
Extra nice after standard B. kriek. World class. More intensely cherried, less pie (duh), just a hint of blossom and almond in nose. Cherry flavor does not womp you over the head; everything light including acidity. Just a drop of oil in mouth.
