Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA (2023) Roppo
Finishing off Christmas 2023 with one of my favorites from this year. What a beautiful beast. Amazing barrel, rich and complex spice, anise, clove, vanilla. Under that is a lovely caramel and toffee body. Love this beer so much.

This stuff is so good. Great combination of complex woody character, spice, herbal hop undertones, satisfying booze layers, caramel. As I initially felt, it’s like a blonde barleywine, if that even exists. If I had one complaint, it’s sweet, but worth it

Really nice bright tart fruity IPA. Grapefruit and Meyer lemon, peach. Overall very high contrast. It’s quite sweet, and also quite bitter, which balance out well. And there is an earthy herbaceous quality that I’m liking.

Woah. If blond barleywine was a thing, this would fit right in. Outstanding wood complexity, spicy and savory, caramel and black cherry, beautifully rounded hops. What a treat.

One of the beers I brought back from Belgium in 2019. A jammy wine hybrid with a really pleasant minerality. Juicy, but finishes fairly dry. Great oaky funk as well. Great stuff.
