Nice little find in 2023. Roughly 4 years and this is still one of the best to ever be made. Maple is subtle but complimentary to the coffee on the start. Coffee and chocolate round it out. Truly on of the best to ever be

Chocolate Cherry KBS Callen

When wegmans puts there and the maple out in their mix a six you buy them all. Front is a bit hot. Bourbon body. That finish though is a total chocolate covered cherry. Adult Easter.

French Toast Bastard Callen

So Thai is everything it says it is. The only thing that I don’t know is if it’s for me. Sweet maple. Can almost taste egg. Light cinnamon. It’s just a lot. Maybe too much for one brew.

Wake Up World Wide Stout (2022) Callen

Surprisingly easy drink for a 17%. Rick and roasty. Sweet and just the right amount of thickness. Smooth finish. Would love to sit on one of these for like 5 years and see what it does to it. Agape robusto to pair

Crimson Cru Callen

This doesn’t do it for me. Weird boozy tart. Malty. Drinks like a mad elf or something along those lines.

Punkin Ale (2022) Callen

Always my favorite and the art is always killer. The finish is full of pumpkin. Spice on the start. Blends well.

KBS Hazelnut Callen

Touch boozy. Roasted. Chocolate. Hazelnut sweetness. Pains me to say but this one didn’t work as well as I though it would for me.

Where the Wild Hops Are Callen

This is a fun one. Easy drink. Hint of oak and age. Lightly hopped and resinous. Citrus notes.

Velvet Rush Callen

For a brown ale it’s impressive. However as a stout I think this would of been out of this world. Subtle sweetness. Aroma is off the charts and dessert like. Light and a bit thin for the ABV. Torn on this. Good not great though.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Callen

The subtle cherry note kicks this up a bit rating wise. I’d like more of sweet bourbon though

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Callen

The nose on this reminds me of a all chocolate Easter basket. Chocolate body leads to a faint vanilla. Cinnamon takes over the finish and lingers. ThT might be my only knock. The cinnamon overpowers and even takes away the barrel notes that make KBS KBS

Wish I knew what year this was. Age did it well. Perfectly balanced. Vanilla comes and carries til mid body. Smooth finish. 🤟🏻👏🏻 Big boy beer night.

So I’m gonna look at this more like a utopias rather than a brew. That apple brandy is outta control. I think the whiskey and rum just add a solid base for the brandy to take over the finish.

It’s very light. Cinnamon lingers off the finish. Subtle sweetness. Expected a lot more.

There’s a solid coffee note right off the rip. Sweetness in the body. Hint of oak on the finish. Solid but it’s just not the original KBS.
