2-Year Unblended Oude Lambiek Vermeulen
Funk and hay in the nose, when drinking a soft acidity with lots of apple. A slight bitterness tasted somewhat strange at first but blended well with the soft character of the beer. One of the lambic beers that are more to my taste.

Zwanze 2024 - MMXXIV Vermeulen
A lot of sea in the nose. Otherwise there isn’t much that sets this version apart. I had the feeling it was softer than what cantillon usually serves - for me that’s not a bad thing - but I still don’t really understand the Cantillon hype.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°9 Vermeulen
Very sour first impression, but mellows quickly. Bone dry, but too one-dimensional for me.

Boon Kriek Selection Vermeulen
Cherry bomb in the nose! First sip was very sweet, making me think of added sugars, but it quickly turned into a refreshing acidity, just enough. Way better than the normal Boon Kriek.

Love the deep malty, chocolaty undertone of this beer. The aroma boasts some prune notes which are also lovely, but they don’t really come back in the taste. I can enjoy this one though on a sunny terrace.

Kriek Mariage Parfait Vermeulen
Pretty enticing cherry aroma. Doesn’t really follow up in the mouth where lambic sourness takes a little over too much. Still very fruity and it does get tastier with every sip.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek Boon Vermeulen
More bitter than I anticipated, but unfortunately not with enough acidity and/or sweetness to balance. Fruitiness is also rather absent, and a slightly off-tasting tartness also doesn’t help. Not really enticing.

Fruity aroma with lots of vanilla. As usual with cantillon beers, I think it is too sour for my taste, reducing other flavors to mere footnotes. There is some blueberry fruitiness, vanilla and a touch of oak in there, but I feel it needs more balance.
