KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023)

Final KBS, giving spicy chocolate a second chance. This time, in comparison to the other KBS, there’s a tiny spicy burn. But if you had blindly given this to me, I probably wouldn’t guess that it was spicy.

KBS - Chocolate Espresso

On to the Chocolate Espresso version of KBS. Smells like coffee. Has a coffee finish. Might let this warm up a bit before giving it a rating. Warmed up and it’s not quite as harshly bitter, but there aren’t a lot of flavor different from regular KBS.

On to original KBS. Pours thicker than breakfast stout and smells boozier. Almost seems smoother, and it’s roasty in the finish rather than upfront. Had it previously rated as a 4.25 but I’m bumping it up to a 4.5

Doing a KBS tasting, so we have to start with the base; Breakfast Stout! Roasty. Coffee. A little more boozy than I remember. Still one of my favs.

This was a go-to for me when I lived in Grand Rapids, but it’s been so long since I’ve had it, I’ve never checked it in. A really good Scottish Ale. Apparently I like coffee that tastes like charcoal, and beer that tastes like cigars/cigarettes.

Making my friend try the base of both KBS and CBS. Been a while since I’ve had this. Bitter coffee flavor. I don’t remember it being over 8%

We were about 12 people too far back in line to make it into the movie so we’re having another beer. Had this years ago when I lived in Grand Rapids before I had the Untappd app. Fruity. Creamy. Not overly sweet like a juice.

One of my favorite places so far on vacay. Possibly the closet equivalent of Bar Sinister in LA. Beer is ok. Decent for the place and selection.

Tastes like raspberry soda. Almost too sweet, I’d love a bit more tart or sourness.

More zoom tasting. Super roasty/coffee. After the last KSB, I want to rate it slightly lower. I get less flavor and more syrup-y ness in comparison.

A little bitter at first, but has a nice coffee after taste. Might have to compare it to regular KBS sometime to taste the differences.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020)

Last beer of the night. A bit of a syrupy smell, but mostly tastes of vanilla and oak. Pairing it with a chocolate coffee cupcake & it tastes a bit bitter, but is still good.

Birthday virtual beer tasting! Smells heavily of coffee, but tastes like chocolate covered cherries. Sweet, but not sickeningly.

Underground Mountain Brown (2019)

Good, but I’m having trouble getting past a weird, syrupy taste/mouth feel.
