1000 IBU Barrel Aged

IPA - Imperial / Double

The name IBU 1000 refers to the theoretical IBU of this beer. There are physical limits to how much bitterness beer can soak up. For the benefit of those especially interested in the process of brewing we can tell you that 6½ kilogram of alpha-acid extract was used og 10 kilograms of simcoe-pellets per 1000 liters beer! This means that 'easy to drink' is only for the hardcore hopheads!

Zero carb., but the artificial cork was well-seated. So, I must have been low carbonation to begin with. I drank one of these in 2010, and while the flavour is uniquely familiar, dunno what the carb. was like back then. Tastes ok but a 14yr old.Thx Craig.

Pours a clearish brown with loads of little floaties and an off-white head and lacings. Smells a bit of smoked whiskey malts and red wine. Sweet and quite bitter. Aromas of caramel, peated wiskey malts, and ash. Also some aclohol notes. And hints of leath

One a day historical check in, drank November 2010. Interesting nose. Berries, pineapple, hops-a-plenty, vanilla, spices. Nice, spicy bitter aromas. Flavours of nuts, chocolate, salt, blackberries, tobacco and pepper. Very soothing. Smoky, bitter finish.
