French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

This could be the worst beer ever. One sip and it went down the drain. Stop being cute and just go back to making good beer

Was expecting this to be very sweet but the maple and cinnamon are not over powering . The maple does linger in the aftertaste a bit

Does what it says in the tin, as they say. Tastes like French toast and beer.

All maple nose. Sweeeeet, syrupy, strong cinnamon maple syrup with a boozy maple finish. Definitely French toast beer. Very nice, but good it’s only 12oz. Dessert sipper for sure.

For a beer with this much abv, it's smooth and sweet. Great night cap.

Seemed surprisingly subtle on the first sip, but as it warmed up it got more over the top as expected. Mostly just too sweet. Cinnamon was more tame than most, but still too much.

Smells like a maple glazed donut. Very French toast flavor. Pastry Scotch Ale! Freaking delicious, but one is enough. Fairly astringent finish.

I really enjoy this beer. You can really taste the maple in it. This beer is very sweet but very smooth and I like it as a desert beer.

Super happy I picked this one up. Great cinnamon flavor and light vanilla though. They hit the nail on the head with that French toast flavor. Perfect for a cold winter night chillin at home.

French toast in a glass. Whoa, this is well done. Like blended French toast with some booze in the back. Wow...

The radio said today was national French toast day. Who am I to shun that? Tastes just like French toast at 11.1%. Strong maple and cinnamon. Boozy kick with some barrel finish.

Rich and strong, lots of flavor in this one. A little much on the maple for me but nice overall. Eta: this one really improves as it warms. Take it out of the fridge 30 min before you drink it.
