French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Tastes like you’re eating French toast. Wouldn’t want more than one due to that but they nailed what they were going for. 11.1%

The flavours take a bit of coming to terms with, but they all taste real.

Strong maple on the nose. Like fresh 100% maple syrup, not fake table syrup. Flavor starts with almost as much maple syrup but fades quickly to allow the bourbon oak notes to take over keeping it from being too sweet.

They certainly nailed French Toast. Didn't they? Buttered up, maple covered, egg washed French toast. Certainly sweet, but so is the source material. Good for a sample of one and glad I was able to acquire as a single.

Smooth. French toasty maple goodness. The scotch ale is a greatbase for this beer. Couldnt do mire than a glass though.

Whoa - SWEET! Literally drinking cinnamon French toast. Too far? Kind of artificial. Lots of maple and syrup flavor.

Good but man it’s on the sweet side. Like a liquid pancake smothered in maple syrup.
