French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Well, it's French toast and bourbon, what else is there to say? Extremely sweet & maple-heavy, though there is actuallya nice little bit of roasty coffee bitterness that hangs out on the back of the tongue to finish and stop things getting TOO cloying.

This beer on the nose is a 4.75. Magnificent candle quality vanilla maple cinnamon scent. On the palate maple pancake vanilla heaven draped over a strong scotch ale the stings a little… in the best way possible..

Oh my god it's delicious, like drinking from a maple syrup bottle. And at 11%, it's pretty smooth.

Stack of pancakes smothered in maple syrup on the nose. The taste is maple syrup, cinnamon and burnt brown sugar.

Heavy maple, vanilla aromas. Maple forward but surprisingly not as sweet as it smells. A bit of brown sugar and barrel on the backend..

A little too sweet for me, and was expecting to notice a hint of cinnamon but didn’t get anything. But nobody will ever know it’s 11%!

Bottled August 15th. I eat French toast all the time and this a wonderful rendition for a beer.
