This is a weird one! Indeed, tastes like a liquid pancake (or French toast, I suppose). I generally like it, but it also seems artificial, at least in the way all the (really strong) flavors come together. Is it the maple? Cinnamon? Interesting for sure.

Dark brown amber pour. Sweet maple syrup aroma and taste. Breakfast beer. Tastes like a stack of French toast sticks.

Smells and tastes like barrel aged breakfast in a bottle.

The French Toast taste was nailed, and was almost too much at first…but given time to warm and settle it’s much better backed up by the bourbon. Really a cool beer

9.25 of 10 OMG. This is awesome. The vanilla, cinnamon, and maple all blend in this incredible scotch ale. Maybe there’s even a vanilla boost from the oak barrels. ABV is admirable but does not have a lot of heat on the backend.

Woah! Shockingly good and accurate description of the flavors. Legit French toast

Sweeter bastard is still solid bastard. 🤯

Tastes like French toast mmm. Only wish they were barrel aged a little longer, a stronger scotch bite would be welcome to combat the sweetness

Always love the light maple flavor in these attempts. Very good. Rich. Not too sweet.

Really enjoyed this. Adjuncts are well balanced, but not much barrel. Bears no resemblance to the OG Bastard (which is way better) but still a good beer.

Plenty of maple and cinnamon. Full flavor and little boozy. Desert beer, of course

2022 Doesn’t disappoint. Same maple syrup goodness. Ale is prevalent.
