Tank Bender

Bock - Eisbock (Traditional)

Tank Bender is our first foray into the rare style known as eisbock. This style involves freezing water off the beer, resulting in ultra-concentrated flavor, deeper body and, in our case, a bent tank from collapsing ice. A liberal addition of Munich malt highlights the toasty and dark fruit notes while a stay in bourbon barrels tames those intense flavors.

Had this when new but Zach the Kitten gave me an aged bottle. Had to pop it open tonight. Some age makes it drink like an old ale like Curmudgeon. Caramel notes with boozy barrel. It’s a big beer that needs sipped. Tasty!

Mocne ciemne owoce, lekka beczka, rodzynki. Ciało średnie, nie czuć alkoholu ale jest rozgrzewające.

Malt is gone. No burn. Tons of Caramel. Bit of sweetness. Starting to get a bit oxidized though. Still much better than the OG I had on draft years ago. But then again, it’s an eisbock. Basically made for aging.

Hard to believe that after 6yrs this is still so hot, 15% not hiding. This is almost barleywine like, getting some caramel and dried fruit but leaves me wanting more. Barrel presence is strong.

Last of my stash. Aged pretty well, tastes like an old ale, slight hint of booze left.

Damn. This is outstanding. It’s like a unsweetened version of an English barleywine. Still a ton of barrel. Wow. Thanks John M.
