To me it’s always stout season. Even on a humid evening. This one is always dark and roasted goodness.

KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Greenbush

Probably the last of these I will have. A fantastic variant. The spice is understated in a good way with just a touch of warmth. Works so well with the base stout.

KBS - Chocolate Espresso Greenbush

A really nice variant. Espresso notes dominate with deep, roasty coffee. Chocolate comes in later giving a creaminess. Definitely in the upper tier of KBS variants. Buy a 4-pack or so and not a single.

Mortal Bloom Greenbush

Goes well with Hangover part 3. Floral and light. A good drinker.

Goes well with the NFL Draft. A bit of funk on the nose but floral on the tongue. A refreshing hazy.

Adult chocolate milk. Maple shows more as sweetness than maple. Thick and silky mouthfeel.

Tank Bender Greenbush

Had this when new but Zach the Kitten gave me an aged bottle. Had to pop it open tonight. Some age makes it drink like an old ale like Curmudgeon. Caramel notes with boozy barrel. It’s a big beer that needs sipped. Tasty!

This has become my favorite KBS variant because of how subtle the pepper is. It gives a touch of warmth on the edges of the tongue. Chocolate is there playing well with the base KBS.

I am not a fan of beers with pepper. That being said, this is pretty great. The pepper is perfectly balanced with the chocolate and overall KBS base. Truthfully, I didn’t expect to like this but I’m really impressed.

Ginger, Spice, Barreled And Nice Greenbush

A nice sticky barleywine for playoff football. Saw another review that said dial the ginger down to a 6, and I agree. That, and some sweetness would put this at another level.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Greenbush

Good one to sip while watching some playoff football. Proper glassware makes it even better. (Thanks Zach the Kitten) Don’t get as much maple but still tasty.

Barrel-Aged Nemesis Greenbush

A barleywine on the more bitter side along the lines of Bigfoot. Barrel works well with this but isn’t overly boozy. This is a nice sipper that is a meal in a glass. Another fine beer in my hands thanks to Zach the Kitten

BA Marvelroast Greenbush

This is really good. Deep coffee flavor with a touch of sweetness. Barrel is subtle and enhances the coffee and gives warmth. Many thanks to Zach the Kitten for this.

4 Giants Starcatcher Haze Greenbush

Loaded with citrus. Bitter citrus rind throughout but ends slightly dry. This is a nice beer with a cool collaboration.

KBS Blueberry Greenbush

First bottle and I was not impressed. It’s not KBS. No chocolate and roastiness we know. Blueberry is tart that mutes the usual KBS flavors. But take KBS expectations out and this is pretty good. Blueberry adds a brightness for summer stout drinking.

Imperial Stout (2017) Greenbush

Bottled in November of 2016. Certainly past it’s prime but still drinks really well. This was the epitome of what a RIS should be. It is a shame Founders got rid of it. Molasses and char.

This is boozy chocolate milk now. Tasting good on a humid night.

Underground Mountain Brown (2019) Greenbush

This held up well. Roasted coffee notes with some barrel heat. Nice char on the finish.

Barrel Runner (2018) Greenbush

Been sitting on this for a long time. Has a honey-like sweetness with some oxidation. Should have poured slower because a bunch of sediment poured out. Not too boozy but has a bite.

Wake Up World Wide Stout Greenbush

Had one before and wasn’t impressed but really liking this tonight. Tons of bitter, roasted coffee with a touch of sweet. Not hot at all considering the abv.

Each one of these I drink I like more and more. Barrel and sweetness balanced nicely. It has grown on me because i wasn’t overly impressed with my first one but I’m a fan now.

Wasn’t a fan. Definitely seems like a hoppy barleywine now.

Has an odd soapy, vanilla-like flavor. Oddly there is still something that makes you want to continue drinking this. Buy again? Maybe.

Perfect for some college football on a Saturday night. And probably one of the only times I will be cheering for Michigan State!

French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022) Greenbush

Better than the brewery-only release a few years ago. Maple, cinnamon, and barrel deliciousness. Smells incredible.

Wake Up World Wide Stout (2022) Greenbush

Coffee is the major player. It’s dark, bold, bitter coffee. The maple sweetness is there but under layers of coffee.

I’m not the only one happy this is back. So good. Subtle maple sweetness, huge fudge, warming barrel. Better than CBS? Hard to say…

Ultimate Oktoberfest Greenbush

Gave this another go since the weather has cooled. I like this much better “in season “. Barrel adds vanilla character that blends well with the märzen. And look at that color!

Backwoods Bastard (2022) Greenbush

Been a while since I had one of these. Years ago this opened my eyes to barrel aged beers. Doesn’t seem to be what it was then but still holds a special place with me.

KBS Hazelnut Greenbush

This exceeded expectations. Hazelnut is not overdone. Big, bold, dark coffee with a balanced nuttiness. Really nicely done.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Greenbush

Good opening night of NFL and a good beer. KBS 2021 is tasting good; a lot of chocolate notes with a nice creaminess and balanced barrel. Tastes like the old KBS you had to hunt for back in the day.

Definitely get the Old Fashioned vibe and I like it. Surprised to see this is a brown; seems like an old ale to me. This is a nice sipper. This will be a love it or hate it beer.

Decided to hang with a couple bastards tonight. The barrel serves the base beer well. Nice caramel notes meld well with the barrel.

Today was a day that called for a boozy stout that kicks you in the teeth. Dark fruits are prominent with that nice World Wide booziness. I needed this tonight.

Tart yet sweet. The berry flavors really bring this home for me. This is made for warm weather sipping.

Second time having this. I still wish it had more malty sweetness. Overall it’s a nice barley wine after you give it time to open up.

Started warm approx 55 degrees and it was good. Warmed more an opened up a lot...tons of vanilla and sweetness. Mellow barrel.

Clouds in the sky, a chill in the air calls for something boozy. This fills the bill perfectly. Some age tamed the sweetness. A smooth sipper is what you are left with.

A solid Marzen. Oktoberfest season always sounds better to me than it really is. That being said this is one of the better ones.
