Backwoods Bastard (2020)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Yum! It definitely has some caramelly and smoky flavors with a little sweetness.

Mycket bättre när den tempererats. För kall blir den lite väl spritig.

Lots of oak this year, still pretty sweet but less than last year. Could use some of the scotch/smoky from the label.

Super lekker. Doet me heel erg denken aan de HJ vatgerijpt bourbon serie

Deze van 2020 is net iets meer boozy dan die van 2018. Verder net zo lekker 😋

Slight toffee hints behind the not-overly-sweetness of the bourbon barrels. Rich creamy head. More flavor comes out as it warms up after being poured. My go to regular bourbon barrel aged beer when not wanting to open my limited selection of BCBS.

Stiff Upper Lip

Full bodied, mid-dry palate with low carbonation. Rich and complex aroma and taste. Up front, oak, bourbon, vanilla, and dark dried fruits. Rich malty, caramel, toast and hints of smoke. Overall sweet and boozy but in a very seductive backwoods way!
