I love it, not sure how it’s different from other bourbon barrel-aged stouts I’ve had from Founders but still, this is where they excel. Wonder if they make good NEIPAs... probably not.

Malty, boozy, kinda sweet. Holding up well after a few years.

Great catching up with great friends/family. All the samples got better with warmth

Aging has made it Super smooth with a touch of bourbon sweetness.

Big booze, big nice. Yum. A lighter version actually then some of the heavier hitters, but still beautiful.

Mmm aged barleywine-esque beer. This is drinking peak, tons of leather and prunes. Caramelized and treacle sugars, a nice rye bread thing lurking in the background. Smooth. Nice character. You can taste the hillbilly racist vibes, shout out to founders.

Nice strong ale with hints of vanilla and bourbon barrels.

Caramel, dried fruits, vanilla and oak, with a healthy dose bourbon. Sweetness. Mellowed peat and hops, seriously going BW. 😎 Vintage 2017(.07.20)

Definitely smoother after 4 years. I’ll have to start aging another batch. 😃

Huhei. Best før 01.08.19? Neppe!

Tapping into the cellar for the #2017 which has toned considerably. Still getting the coffee, slight bourbon and boozyness but is toned considerably.

Wow!

Don’t follow a Veil Stout with this beer.

Strong, sweet, and flavorful. Slightly sour, very dark

Noe oksidering.

Still decent, but I think the age isn't helping this anymore.

onight I'm gonna do a comparison between 2016 & 2017 Backwards Bastard! Next up: THE WINNER, 2017! Creamier, smoother than the 2016, light dark fruit, slightly bitter on the tongue, vanilla, some smoky barrel char is present, heavy oak notes!

Drinking backwoods in the backwoods...with friends. Amazing booziness and caramel warmness.
