Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2015)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

This mellowed out a LOT - a bit too much.

If you can believe it the alcohol isn't very apparent after 7 years.

2/12/15. Has that bourbon feel to it. Think I prefer it fresh but a great backbone

Last one of these in my cellar. It’s still holding up but flavors are less pronounced. Still has some chocolate notes at the finish.

(Photo: 2nd from right.) Tastes kinda old, but at least it's not peppery. Actually still very nice.

Once I was 7 years old. It’s pancake flat. So nice of my buddy to donate an 8 year vertical to me without the understanding that this was never going to make it over nearly a decade of hoarding. Give it a 3.5 based on year alone.

Felt like I should drink this before too much longer. I still get molasses on the nose and bourbon and coffee on the tongue. Very nice, but perhaps a touch past its prime.

(4.1) Sweet molasses, mellow bourbon, some oak, roasty espresso bittersweet dark chocolate malts, finishing roasty, bitter and with some barrel flavors. Smooth and full bodied. Not sure if age helped... Speed tasting through my 2015/16 cellar collection.

No coffee. No carb. No lacing. I’m sure it was much more highly regarded when I bought it almost 7 years ago. Now it’s just another okay BA stout.
