Barrel Runner

IPA - Imperial / Double

Inspiration for our barrel-aged beers can come from the most unexpected places and our latest release is proof of that. Sweet and hoppy, rich and bright – this rum barrel-aged imperial IPA brewed with Mosaic hops will make you believe you’re in the tropics.

Another beer that I'm certain I've had before, but never checked it in. That's the ONLY reason I'm drinking a 3-4 year old IPA. Because it's 11%, it's still drinkable, but I'm not going to rate it as I'm assuming it's nothing as it intended to be.

A happy/sad moment. Happy because this beer has aged well and is as delicious as I remember. Sad because this bomber is my final bottle. I bought it at the brew pub when some bottles appeared long after the 4 packs were gone.

Massive wood and rum flavour with some malty and hoppy backbone. Definitely mostly wood, but an interesting flavour for sure.

Turbid golden/amber beer with a slight off-white head. Medium aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Wood, rum, fruit, hops and citrus. 7/4/7/4

2018 release. Boozy rum start mellowing out to a hoppy floral finish. Overall heat of this has mellowed out to be a good session beer.

Wow! I think it might be the first Founders I consider for a drain pour. Rum and beers just don’t do well together.

This beer has mellowed. Still lots of boozy rum but the hoppy bite has mellowed.

Cidery with a strong alcohol taste. This is a good change of pace from your typical barrel aged beer.

Initial sweet, almost fruity, gives way to boozy/rum then hop finish. As usual Founders makes a great beer.

Profiili kohdallaan. Aika stydi mutta tynnyritwisti kuitenkin varsin tasapainoinen.

Ratings seem pretty low on this one to me. It’s solid in my book.

A well rummed and intense, strong BA Imperial IPA, spicy hints from the beginning till the end. A bit too boozy to get excellent points, but really good still.
