Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Did a vertical of the 2017 and 2018. Both held up well in spite of improper cellaring temps at one point. 2017 was very smooth, lots of chocolate flavor but not much coffee. Still quite tasty, glad it held up this well!

Bit 'o stout. Bit 'o hurling. Nice combo. Level at the half. The stout remains pretty much the epitome.

Graduation collection. Held up better than the BCBS did. Sad that this beer isn't a yearly release anymore

Cleaning out the beer cellar making sure I don’t have anything down there over six years old. That means I got some drinking to do. 🍻

Working through my cellar again, this six year old KBS, still has excellent flavor. Chocolate in the nose, with coffee, chocolate, and Bourbon on the tongue. Kept dark and away from heat, good cellaring pays off.

6 years is about perfect for KBS. So chocolatey and smooth.

Blood…we drunk. Flesh…we ate. Standard sour front end from aging but manifested well. Middle was chocolate and roasted coffee. A pleasure. T minus 9 days til last beers.

Less roast and coffee nose than previous tastings. Not at all what I would have expected from a KBS. The coffee is not in your face but the flavor is there on your tongue
