Velvet Rush

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

Borrowing elements from both high-end craft cocktails and moody jazz clubs, Velvet Rush takes the bourbon barrel-aged brown ale up an octave with free-flowing notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla extract. Milk sugar aids in weaving together this complex tapestry of flavors to create a unique sipping experience that really ties the room together.

Definite coffee and chocolate. I think the vanilla tempers the bourbon because I don’t get much of that. This one is cold. I’ll try again at room temp. For science! Really light for that 11.1% ABV.

Nice cacao powdered brown ale, differentiates from a stout clearly. Mostly cacao here and little barrel. A minus, but otherwise outspoken and crisp

That’s a solid brown ale. And it’s barrel aged.

Way to overpowering on the coffee, so disappointing with Founders on this one.

10/21, Meh, just an average coffee flavored beer. ABV is what pushed it to a 3.5 from 3.25.

Dom the Beer Bro

DTBB drank the coffee the crazy guy living in the tree gave him, and now he can taste colors and hear shapes. A sipper for sure, like a mocha latte made for real men who eat raw meat and shit thunder. Actually quite pleasant, smooth and creamy, enjoyable.

Chocolate upfront and coffee in the back. Let’s call it the mullet of brown ales. Amster rating:”I wish it wasn’t a brown ale and it was a stout. It needed more body to stand up to the chocolate”
