Versus: Hew

IPA - Imperial / Double New England

Versus is a two part series where we explore the differences between two NEIPA yeasts, while keeping the process and all other ingredients the same. For Hew, we used Lallemand's Verdant yeast. For Hue, we used White Labs' London Fog yeast. Both have a luxurious dry-hop of Citra, El Dorado, and Chinook. In Hew we experience exotic over-ripe fruit with a sweet aroma and a dry finish. Compare the two beers and let us know what you think.

Canned 03/24/31 - Yesterday. Fresh, obviously😝 - but nose is not the indication for that - not much going on here. The freshness emerges in taste. Nice fruit, sweetness and smoothness. Good body

With the same hop profile as Hue getting the same nice stone fruit notes in play, a touch more hop spice and maybe slightly sweeter, the abv increase is evident here from the Hue, very nice but overall and on drinkability Hue slightly edges this.

Lallemands verdant yeast. Citra, el dorado og chinook. Tørreste af Hew og hue. Hue er den bedste Pale ale craving. Hue den bedste NEIPA craving.

Can at home. Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Hops, pine needles, tropical fruits, clementines, malt. Alcohol is well hidden. Great. 4.1

Completely different vibe to Hue. Proves how important yeast is. All the fruit, dry finish.

Soft and juicy, lots of orange juice and chewy pineapple with touches of mango and peach. Seriously easy going. Soft texture

Très douce, des notes sucrées, pas ou peu d’amertume, plutôt vegetale. Sympa le concept : série de deux bières brassées identiquement , juste les deux levures de neipa qui changent, hâte de voir l’autre alors 😜 un 3,9 ☺️
