First & Farmhouse

Sour - Other

First and Farmhouse is a wild ale brewed with pilsner malt, and loads of malted spelt, flaked oats and flaked triticale. Jarrylo & Calypso hops added in the whirlpool lend fruity aromas of pear and apple. Fermented with a Farmhouse ale strain and aged in freshly-emptied chardonnay barrels from our friends at Napa Cellars Winery, it was left to cellar in the barrels with Brettanomyces Lambicus for more than 18 months.

Nice funk and the wine rounds it out nicely.

Now this is a surprise—only after discovering my closeted glass bomber stash warm to the touch at times past weeks—that this classic, nearly Old World-style Farmhouse Ale, “Gone Wild” lol, is truly an excellent Sour, brightened by the Chardonnay. Wild

Aged for about 2 years really brightens this one up.

Mildly tart. Dry and funky. Wood-like flavor notes. Masked ABV.

Strong Chardonnay flavors in this otherwise light malted beer, a little boozy

Very nice. Like Forgotten Boardwalk's Conductor, except Dogfish-style. Though we liked the Conductor better.

Wouldn't have known this was a Dogfish. Probably would have paired well with a Camembert.

Really nice geuze/lambic with a bit triple like tones in the body. Sour and funk, not sure what's missing but some bits for perfection is not there.

Strong Brett, some cheesy notes too. Lower tartness. Would go great with a nice cheddar
