Burton Baton

Historical Beer - Burton Ale

An oak-aged, gentle giant. Two "threads," or batches, of beer — an English-style old ale and an imperial IPA — are brewed and, after separate fermentation in stainless tanks, are transferred and blended together in large oak tanks.

Quite old so perhaps unfair score

De basale smaak is OK, maar wow wat een extreme wrange laag zit er overheen. Dit maakt de ervaring (als iemand die niet zo'n wiskey fan is) een onaangename verassing. Heb met Sander geruild voor eentje uit zijn tasting flight.

Malty caramel balanced by earthy hops. A little bit of oak but not much. This is super drinkable for how big it is.

Transferring from Beer Advocate. Not rating since it's been years. I just keep track for my information.

2016 vintage. Figured today would a good day to break it out. Aroma reminds me of a granny smith apple. Not a ton of flavor left. I may have waited too long on this one, but worth it.

10% the dogfish IPA taste we all love with not an overwhelming taste of the oak barrel. A little like I'm drinking wood but that's what I love about it. Fyi, oak tastes like it smells

Yum. Not sure how long I've had this because I don't usually reach for something this high ABV.
