Three-Hour Handshake

Porter - Imperial / Double

We brewed this scrumptious sipper to christen the brand-new oak foeder in our R&D brewery. We began with a complex grist of roasted malts and oak-smoked wheat, plus loads of flaked and naked oats. It was boiled a full three hours (see what we did there?!) to concentrate and caramelize the sugars, resulting in a dense, chewy mouthfeel. After fermentation, the beer was aged in an oak foeder with Madgascar vanilla beans and roasted Tanzanian cocoa nibs for luscious, decadent flavors of dark chocolate, subtle smoke and toasted oak character.

Probably the thickest, richest, chocolatey-est thing ever brewed in human history with a touch of oaky, smoky goodness for that little something extra. Wow.

Well this is just lovely. I'm getting that smoked wheat, coffee and vanilla. Lots of oakiness from the new foeder. This is exactly the kind of thing I hope Dogfish's brewhouse exclusives would be.

Imperial, oatmeal porter. Was worried I kept it too long in the crowler (2020), but overall turned out luscious with a chocolatey foam. Yum.
