Mid-90s Microbrewery Red Ale

Red Ale - American Amber / Red

We all had to start somewhere. It just so happens that our Brewing Ambassador jumped into better beer when red ale was THE THING. So, here it is. Oozing with toffee-ish, bready Munich and Crystal Red Rye malt, and tempered by select American hops for a taste like many others, Mid-90s Microbrewery Red Ale is the beer you didn’t know you were missing.

Not a big Dogfish fan but I have actually been craving an old-school red ale.

Malty. A little bitter and hoppy. Has a nice tang to it.

This style deserves attention on all beer lovers repertoires. This one in particular is good. Nailed the toffee malty thing.

The aroma is distractingly floral. The flavor is lightly toasty with a lingering bitterness.

First on the right. Quite a good red ale, just the right balance.

I’m sure it’s the goal, but this is drier, with more throat bitterness, than a red usually has. I’d prefer the malt to be more pronounced.

Nice and multi red ale with a great balance of little hops and lots of malt.

I found this on the Limited Batch Release menu at the Brew Pub in Rehoboth Beach during our vacation in Ocean City and brought home a 4-pack for my beer homies. Good stuff! I had to re-read the label. MUCH better than your typical Red Ale. Cheers! =)

Not as malty as I expected it to be given the era. Like a warm hug to when I first started getting into craft.
