Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

IPA - American

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped.

Wow! That’s really good. Don’t care for the reg 120 because it’s too boozy/malty, but this is intentionally what it needs to be.

Well wow, stronger then I remember. They are right, hops galore. This may be my only beer for an hour or two. Good though.

I love 120 Minute. I love barrel aged. I missed out on Utopias, so this is the closest I could get. Outstanding!

Pronounced ethanol — rose-like and v. warming. Dark toffee, black currants, Rainier cherries, prunes, honeyed toast. Moderate tannins. Boozy. V. low carbonation. Definitely reads more like a barleywine than the IPA it says on the label.

Generally shy away from these because they are too hoppy for my taste. Damn these are good! Super smooth. I love it!

Thought I’d grabbed a regular 120 Minute 4-Pack... Best mistake I ever made! Super smooth. I’m shocked it’s 17%, because it’s well hidden. Tastes like malt, honey and whiskey raisins. Noice!

Breaking out some barrel-aged stuff might have been a poor choice in retrospect.

120 is very good; Utopias barrel-aged is epic.

At 17% ABV they call this a triple IPA but it tastes more like a barley wine. whatever I approve. it's delicious. get you some of this

I only wish I got a serving bottle of fresh 120 to taste side by side. This it’s so smooth, it’s a sipper for sure, and the hops really balance everything out.

Little carbonation. Big sweet taste. Alcohol tingle after a sip or two. This is so good you could get in trouble drinking it too fast.

All imI can day to this is WOW. This is definitely the most complex and best beer I've had thus far. Yes it's expensive as fuck but damn its so worth it. I'm savoring it and each sip is changing profile on me as it warms up and it's incredible.Amazing!👍

3.90 fln. decent, barrels seem to take away some of the acetone flavor that i remember from the palsy regular 120 minute i had. kinda reminds me of a stronger sierra nevada barleywine
