Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA (2020)

IPA - Imperial / Double

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped. This is the 2020 R&DFH release in 750ml bottles.

This, for me, is as close to perfection as a beer should be. Deep golden ruby highlights. Ivory head. A bit hoppy and fusel on the nose, with rich, gently caramel notes. No burn, slightly viscous mouthfeel. Caramel, with golden raisins. Lovely.
