World Wide Stout (2013)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Dogfish Head started in June 1995 when the Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats was established in the beach community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Dogfish Head was the first brewpub of the state. The original plan to deliver great music, delicious food and fine beers to the community came to life when the first batch of Shelter Pale Ale beers were started. Soon, Dogfish Head engaged in brewing 12 gallons of beer batches to supply the restaurant’s need. Dogfish Head brewery quickly achieved popularity beyond the state and reaches to nearby areas like Philadelphia and Washington D.C. By 2000, Dogfish Head is selling over 20 types of beers to more than 25 states.

I could have aged this better, but still had a nice flavor and the boozieness mellowed out.

Ages very well, giving it a milder, less harsh and boozy taste profile

Very mellowed from the time. Sweeter finish. Notes of fig and raisin. The newer vintages have more traditional flavors from less mellowing. Really incredible Whale to enjoy.

Zoom in on the date stamp. Found this in the cellar last year and figured I’d wait for it to be 10 years old. Well almost. Past it’s prime but oh well. Original rating from 2014

Just shy of 10 years old this is an absolute treat. Some sherry and papery notes coming in as oxidative complexity but tons of chocolate peanut character amidst a subtle sneaky boozy character.
