Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles McD

Floral pepper which marries really well with the lambic, almost perfumed herbicity; unlike anything else, and quintessentially zwanze. Love it.

Not bad, but lacking funk complexity and fruit impact.

Fou' Foune (2020) McD

Almost a year on from the first bottle, and this is really coming into its own; the fruit is still hitting hard, super fresh and with a low funk factor, but the acidity is building a treat.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2019) McD

Bang on, cherry punching hard, acidity is decent and those almond notes are creeping around the edges.

Vigneronne (2018) McD

Seems to be in a slumber at the moment, low on acidity and somewhat muted.

Fou' Foune (2018) McD

Gorgeous as always, the apricot is front and centre, funk is moderate and the acidity quite high on this one. Lush.

All the rhubarb, puckering as ever and rejoicing in its youth. For me, this is the finest Loon to drink young.

Menu Pineau (2019) McD

Aroma is soft, vinous and earthy; very brett heavy, grape must, quite astringent. I could see it dividing opinion, but I like it - although I think it'll improve and round out the brettiness with a bit more age.

Zwanze 2020 - Brettrave McD

Fairly young lambic aroma, the beetroot giving an earthy sweerness; on the palate beetroot sweetness upfront, followed by an earthy, bitter funk and very dry finish. Quite tannic, moderate acidity.
