Immort Ale (2016)

Grape juice with a lot of oxidative contributions. Thick and smokey body with just about no sugars to limp it along. The body collapses into a pancaked visage of its former self. There's absolutley nothing to note after the first second.

KBS Hazelnut (2023)

Hazelnuts soften the bourbon acidity quite considerably. The front starts off so promising with a full bourbon, hazelnut warmth through the middle with the whiskey then setting the former afire with raw booze. The warm finish elevates the experi3mce.

KBS

8/1/23 Bottled: Warming dessert bourbon yet feels 1D with slight berry. The thin body crumbles into miniscule effects of coffee, cocoa with a veiled harmony from bourbon. Bourbon warmth helps the finish. My how times have changed.

Chocolate Cherry KBS

Chocolate cordials mutes with warming bourbon, whiskey. Surprising how flat the flavor profile is overall. Thinner body easily releasing chocolate with subtle cherry syrup until a slick bourbon shows up. No tremendous evolution.

KBS Blueberry

Blueberry muffin, coffee, chocolate syrup, oak, caramel. Slick bodied with a nicely tart blueberry tone that ramps up the barrel acidity nicely. Base beer is a bit hidden from the blueberry but the fruit isn't overwhelming. Lots of heat in the finish.

BA Marvelroast

Mocha with a vanilla lift and coconut. A lot of coffee roast up front and echoing throughout but has a backing from coconut, vanilla and toffee that helps the roast from being acrid. The sugars never leave!

Blushing Padre

Raspberry a dominant aroma but the tequila dirtiness comes through. I'm impressed. The raspberries provide a sweetness but not showiness that they can as the tequila holds them back. A real fun use of barrels.

Unraveled IPA

Candies citrus, heavy on candied. Malt has an odd smokey, blue cheese funk that's hard to get over. Very little hop support and honestly I can't get past the malt. I mean what is it? May have some citrus notes but I can't tell.

SMASH Bros Czech Pils

Light sweet cracker base with mild sulfur, musty notes. Malt has a snappy feel that forces the tongue to enjoy the harmonious cracker, sulfur blend until relenting to the sugary flow in the wake.

Wake Up World Wide Stout (2022)

Pungent sweet twinged coffee roast, maple, mild tree bark and almost peppery. Not too heavy but has a lot of bombastic heat diluting some of the flavors. Coffee dominant note with raspberry hitting in the after but all alcohol dominant. Needs time.

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

Densely packed with dates, figs and raisins. Feels like a barleywine over IPA but I'm not complaining. Great sugar density that doesn't become cloying with the most subtle heat helping the wine elements surface.

Czech 1, 2..

Light cracker, slight herbal hop and clean spring water. Bubblegum fruitiness persists in the body with some deflections by the sulfur, herb notes. Fuller in body but not to much to offer from the body.

Nath (2021)

An excellent raspberry aroma with a twinge of bitter/earthy notes. It is very thin with a lovely touch of raspberry but not enough to overpower the earthy rhubarb that comes more in the after air. Overall sharp and acidic but tapers in the finish.

Zwanze 2020 - Brettrave

Very dirty and earthy with no beer hint. Insane aroma. Unusual flavor that is sensational: earthy beetroot sustains through the mild tart lambic flavors throughout. Gorgeous beer and a fun experiment.

Zwanze 2018 - Manneken Pise

Cheesy and onions with the lactic sour behind. The front is very flat in body and taste but the flavors gradually come in meekly: slight sour, cheese and funk but all mutely. Very simple and balanced.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions)

Hops come through with bubblegum, lemon candy, taffy. Very balanced: hop citrus melds beautifully with the lambic tart that’s very refined and delicate. Very dry finish but leaves a lot of citrus air.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie es Belge

Strong funky essence of blue cheese, garlic masking the lambic. Rounded and punchy with intense cheesy flavors with the tart notes coming towards the end. Very intense and will benefit with age.

50°N-4°E

The lambic notes are caressed nicely with oak, dark liquor. The oak/cognac flavors swell in the alcohol towards the end adding a nice finish to the traditional lambic start. Cognac gradually comes forward more with more sips.

Lambic Prunelle

Very light aroma with notes of acid, plum, mineral water. The thin body holds meek notes of acid, plum and grapes further subdued by lack of carbonation and being sightly warm. The after lingers with pears and plums making me sip more.

Rosé de Gambrinus

Bottled June 5 2018: Stunning warm raspberry, lemon, honey, a light cheese in the aroma. Strong lactic acidity with some acetic notes that bring the fragile raspberry to life. The berry carries into the mouthwatering finish flooding with more acidity.

KBS Espresso

Luxurious, velvety coffee and cocoa blend with toffee, caramel rounding out the stunning aroma. This evolves dramatically: starts sweet with chocolate, coffee then matures to brazen bourbon, maple before reclining to warming echo of this brilliant life.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge

I have to use a heated knife to cut through the dense coffee, fudge, caramel aroma. God damn Founders knows how to treat their children that made their name. The Breakfast stout has the hallmark with the bourbon and coffee supporting sensually.
