Immort Ale (2016)

Strong Ale - English

For this beer, we use maple syrup from Red Brook Farm (Sam's family farm in Western Massachusetts), peat-smoked barley and vanilla. Immort is fermented with a blend of English and Belgian yeasts, then aged in the big oak tanks at the brewery. The sweet and earthy flavors meld magnificently in the Immort Ale. But be warned, the ABV is 11%.

Grape juice with a lot of oxidative contributions. Thick and smokey body with just about no sugars to limp it along. The body collapses into a pancaked visage of its former self. There's absolutley nothing to note after the first second.

Getting thin. Light fizz. Caramel a maple present but was close to being vinegar. If you have this year, pop it!!!!!

I’m a great spot. Not boozy, and not much bitterness. Slight caramel and toffee with some umami flavors. Not dead yet, but don’t know how much more aging would make it better.

Heavily oxidized at this point, a little past it’s prime. Still nice toffee, nougat, caramel, and oak

Great but feels past prime at this point. 1/22/16. A lot of black molasses and melanoidin character making it a bit more rough and boozy/warming than I remember. Slow sipping with a lot of malt complexity. Will drink the rest from this batch soon.

Sweet vanilla blends surprisingly well with the oakey, peat-smoked flavor. This is a beautiful beer reminiscent of a good single malt scotch with a hint of vanilla and caramel to balance it out. It's aged very nicely as well. Cheers! 🍺

Great balance of maple, smoke, and rich malts. After 5+ years, not getting any alcohol burn, very smooth, long lingering sweet smoky finish. Wow

Busting out the fancy stuff hubs has. First flavors are smoke and maple. I’ll take it as I love smoky scotch. Definitely boozy but not overpowering.

A huge peat-y caramel malt that has a touch of vanilla and a burnt toffee finish. Solid and unique brew with a nice body. It’s smoky, but probably as smoky as I would want my beer to be. They nailed the smoky finish
