Backwoods Bastard Reviews

A 2021 bottling, gifted. Still perfect (see prior reviews). Founders remains one of a couple breweries that I’ll still get enormous stouts from

Velvet Rush Reviews

Really suffers by comparison to Breakfast Stout. In particular, the coffee just doesn’t come through and the body is insufficiently robust. Ultimately, the bourbon isn’t doing the job either.

120 Minute IPA (2018) Reviews

Still think I’m too far down the aging curve. At this point it’s a very low carb barleywine with an intense leathery malt aroma and flavor. It’s v good but I think I’m losing complexity at this point

120 Minute IPA (2017) Reviews

Gonna say that five years (bottle was purchased Nov. 2017) is too long. Presents as an above-average, leathery/port wine barleywine, but the finish is too much tobacco - maybe the hops taking a bad turn?

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio Reviews

Not quite as good as Beersel. Has a lovely fresh cherry aroma and flavor, but just not the wild yeast and aged character.

Rosé de Gambrinus Reviews

Wonderfully fruit forward nose, but again so subtle and complex. Aged character, with lots of hay, Meyer lemon, and vanilla.

Classic Gueuze Reviews

1-year old unblended. Fresh hay, wet cobblestones, old wood. Dry, somewhat flat and not cold, and somehow better for it.
