Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Beer Guy
From yesterday. Super complex. Aroma: soy/coconut amino, dark chocolate & oak barrel char. Taste: exactly like the aroma but also adds in vanilla & darkly caramelized toffee to the mix. Big thanks to Tim S. For sharing!

A gift from Grizzbar from years ago. Mocha nose here. Taste blossoms with coffee, chocolate, bourbon vanilla, vanilla cream & soft oak tannins. Every flavor balanced & in sync with each other. Reminds me of a mocha chocolate truffle in beer form. 👍🤘

Pineapple, grapefruit & tangerine on the nose. Taste mirrors the aroma exactly! Very juicy IPA! Nice moderate piney bitterness. Semi-dry finish.

KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Beer Guy
New KBS! Chocolate heavy mocha with subtle bourbon vanilla & chili pepper on the nose. Taste mirrors the aroma perfectly. More chocolate than coffee here with subtle bourbon vanilla & chili pepper flavors. Subtle oak barrel as it warms up. Pretty good!

Coffee, dark chocolate, toasted coconut & bourbon vanilla oakiness on the nose. Taste mirrors smell perfectly. Is both boozy sweet & heat. As it warms up that flavors of oatmeal emerge. Very heavy on the bourbon & coconut notes this time around.

Returning to a classic. Dark chocolate, oatmeal cream pie cookies & roasted malts/coffee on the nose. Taste mirrors the aroma perfectly. Honestly, it's more of a Kona coffee like flavor here but works very well with chocolate & oatmeal. Easy sipper.

Aroma is malty of cereal grains. Taste is honey sweetness with grain cereal. Mild grassy & floral hop bitterness. It’s alright. Repeat.

It's about time to kill these off! Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, brown sugar & roasted pumpkin on the nose. Taste mirrors the aroma perfectly. Not so clove heavy as it was last year. Mild grassy bitterness. Holds up very well after a year!

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2022) Beer Guy
Aroma: coffee, fudge & cocoa powder with subtle maple sweetness. Taste: dark chocolate, fudge, coffee, oats, buttery sweet maple syrup. As it warms up a bit there is a nuttiness of peanuts and/or almonds coming through. Perfect for breakfast or nightcap.

Very orange forward on the nose. Taste blossoms forth with wheat, orange, coriander & lemon. Clean & crisp mouthfeel. Mildly bitter of grass. Solid & crushable.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Beer Guy
Aroma: strong dark roast coffee with subtle scents of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla & oats. Taste: oatmeal creme pie with dark mocha & bourbon cream finish. Still love what the aging did with this stout. Roasted bitterness at the end with mocha notes.

New year, new beer. Aroma is sort of sour cherry with subtle orange & toffee/caramel notes. Taste mimics the aroma nicely with toffee malts with tart/sour cherry, orange & raisin like flavors. Mild bitterness of pine. Interesting to say the least.

How does one improve a barrel aged imperial oatmeal coffee stout with huge flavors of chocolate & bourbon? Put that on nitro. Retains the glory that is KBS but makes it smoother, creamier & richer.

From this weekend finale! Simply put, this smells like French toast. Tastes like French toast with cinnamon, maple & vanilla with subtle notes of toffee, cherry, bourbon & oak. Phenomenal!

Aroma is lightly floral & lemony. Taste mirrors the aroma perfectly, light flavors of floral hops, lemons & subtle tropical fruits. Unsure which tropical fruits. Mild to no bitterness whatsoever. Biscuity malt flavor shining through. Easily can chill.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Beer Guy
Gift from Grizzbar . Aroma is coffee, chocolate, oats, cinnamon & subtle vanilla. Taste mirrors the aroma, however the vanilla is quite a bit more present. Good equal balance of flavors blending together. Bourbon is there, just sneaking around this stout.

Never had it nitro! Aroma is softly of raspberries. Taste is raspberry purée, subtle bready malts with a subtle creaminess in taste & mouthfeel. Good sweetness from the raspberries here. Pretty good easy sipper!

Where the Wild Hops Are Beer Guy
Wild thing? Aroma is hoppy of lemons & grapefruit. Taste is much like the aroma but add in oranges & raspberries to the mix. Piney bitter aftertaste as you’d expect. Cracker maltiness. Loving the mix of citrus & berry in this brew. You make my heart sing!

90 Minute Imperial IPA Beer Guy
Been awhile, old friend. Aroma & flavor is grapefruits, tangerines, mangoes & pine with aggressive bitterness at the start before mellowing out. Noticeable maltiness of honey biscuits here. Also getting kiwi as it warms up a bit. Never did me wrong.

Just lil mighty, eh? Soft aroma of grass, pine & some sort of citrus. Taste I would call a hoppy shandy as it is mostly lemon/lemonade tasting with some orange peel & pine bitter notes sprinkled about on a biscuity malt backdrop. Not bad at all.

Stay the Dogfish Head course here. Bright grapefruit & orange aroma. Taste is thickly grapefruit, orange, mango & guava with a creamy mouthfeel of oats/oatmeal. Moderate bitterness but not real sticky. Clean tasting hazy. Just a well done hazy IPA.

Not much different on draft from the can. Pretty classic IPA flavors of grapefruit, orange & pine in smell & taste. Mild to moderate bitterness. Bready maltiness. 👍

Summer treat in stouts are a good thing, right? Right! Aroma is roasted malts, smoke, chocolate & cinnamon. Taste is bit more balance with roasted malts/coffee blending into smoke, then dark chocolate & cinnamon join in. Like the direction it is heading.

Backwoods Bastard (2017) Beer Guy
Few years since the last time enjoyed. Aroma is bourbon vanilla/oak with tobacco. Taste is caramel/toffee, raisins, prunes, plums & cherries. Subtle bourbon, oak & vanilla this time around. Noticeable boozy sweet/heat here. Not the bastard I once knew.

Rise of Punk! Aroma is spices of cinnamon, ginger & clove. Taste includes all 3 spices to coincide with toasted grainy malts, caramel sweetness & a bitterness from overuse of cloves. Similar to pumpkin ales of years gone by. Pretty tasty though! 🎃🎃🎃

Thought I reviewed this before? Aroma gives off citrus scents of oranges & grapefruit. Taste reflects the aroma but focuses more on the orange flavor. As ones enjoys this IPA the citrus flavor seems to go from orange to tangerine, which still is good.

An old favorite from times gone by. Aroma is grapefruit, oranges & pine. Taste isn’t much different, more grapefruit than orange but both have tastes of juice & peel. Mild to moderate bitterness. Pine isn’t too bothersome here. Subtle bready maltiness.🕰

Aroma is coffee roastedness, chocolate & sweet caramel. Taste reflects aroma nicely, having flavors of coffee, chocolate, vanilla & caramel come together to create a lovely brew for anytime of day. The creamy mouthfeel & sweetness help make this beer.

Que pasa contigo!? Aroma is slight tequila mixing with the prickly pear, giving off watermelon/raspberry vibes. Taste mirrors this perfectly, getting sweet raspberry tea with watermelon, kiwi & subtle tequila. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Mas! Por favor!

Yep, same rival as last time. Still stereotypical barley wine aromas & flavors as the previous night. And, believe it or not it is still a great change up, yet a great reminder of the roots/ bare-bones of this style. Also, did it for the badge. 👍🤘

Oh! A new rival appears! Aroma is strongly malty & hoppy; toffee with earthy, herbal & piney hops. Taste reflects the aroma, getting some toasted grains to go with toffee/caramel sweetness. Hops just balance out the malts. Pretty normal barleywine. 👍

Interesting take on dessert. Aroma does get both raspberry & chocolate, sort of syrup with cocoa powder. Taste is a well-roasted stout with dark chocolate truffle filled with raspberry jelly. Extremely smooth body & mouthfeel. A really good nickname, eh?

From Memory: Perfect for breakfast! Aroma is simply coffee & is almost the same to be said of the taste but then a strange thing happened. The Brown ale shines with nuttiness & toasted bread maltiness. As it warms green peppers emerge & makes it complex.

¿Qué pasa? So what is this? Well it is Más Agave subbed with grapefruit. Still is balanced with sweet & tart in this brew in the taste, as well as aroma. Easy transition for Founders to make with this brew. Could have a few. Still good on a hot summer day

Arriba! Aroma is still limey & tart with scents of tequila & agave lingering about, but would say it smells sweeter than the previous year. Taste, still a beer margarita. Tart & sweetness do seem balanced here. Still good on a freaking hot summer day!

Such a strange name. Aroma is oddly sweet & funky of watermelon. Even can smell the salt. Taste is lovely though in comparison. Sweet & acidic watermelon with a light body. Very crisp & enjoyable! Finishes dry. High ho watermelon horse, away!

From Memory: Impressed with it. Aroma was grapefruit & oak with subtle vanilla sweetness. Taste reflects the aroma, having some orange flavor to go along with it. Dry finish from the bourbon oak barrel aging. Different but good, not too dank but enough.

From memory: Bueno! Aroma was tart & limey with lingering scents of tequila & agave syrup. Taste...well is very much beer meets margarita. Slight tart, but so damn refreshing on a hot summer day.

From Memory: Still one of the best Imperial IPA's I have had to date only because of the Bourbon barrels used. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, vanilla & Oak. Taste reflects the aroma, slight caramel & subtle pine to round things out. Not good after a year.

From memory: Wasn't a fan but appreciated what they tried. Aroma was pretty much Rum. Taste was also Rum with some tropical & citrusy taste possibly from the Mosaic hops used here. Some vanilla from the rum shines as it warmed up. Rum Runner of a beer.

Only giant I recognized is DT. Who be the other 3? Aromas are citrusy & tropical with underlying dankness & pine. Taste is very green, lots of grapefruit, green onion, passion fruit, orange & pine. Very big and burly Imperial IPA.
