Sept 4, 2018 bottle. Aged like a dream. Tartness in check and super zippy. Hefty barnyard funk and straw. Bright citrus. For a $20 LCBO shelfie back in the day it’s a winner through and through.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Dumont

It’s back! Always loved me a bit of that rich coffee, barrel heat and that trailing hit of maple. Coffee is the dominant force here. Drinking a bit hot but overall great.

Ok - if anyone has this in the cellar: beware - huge ass gusher. Lost 1/3 of the bottle. Thankfully a 750 so hope is not lost. Part of the haul from Mike L. I never knew Founders made this. Decent barrel, ashy charred medium body. Nice non-adjunct brew

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2022) Dumont

A bit thinner than older KBS years but nice balance of fudge, barrel and maple. Thankfully not overpowering sweetness. 4.35

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Dumont

Old faithful and never disappoints. This year’s is great.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Dumont

Deep, rich and malty. Layers of dark chocolate, burnt caramel, ash and stone fruit. Surprisingly smooth given the ABV but super warming. 4.4

KBS Espresso (2019) Dumont

4.6. Time has done well for this one. Coffee in great balance with the barrel. Nothing faded. Fantastic

Well this has gone down too fast and I fear I’ll pass out shortly. Waves of brown sugar and subtle barrel. For the ABV it’s mega dangerous. 4.3. Thanks Mike L. !

KBS Hazelnut (2022) Dumont

Slightly thicker than the vanilla cinnamon variant but not by much. Barrel is there but overpowered by the hazelnut. Slightly artificial. May reassess when warmed a bit

A trip to the farm! Lots of funk and dry straw. Apparently Vancouver gets a lot of these half bottles so I decided to support the BC economy. Sure it’s the “shelf” Cantillon but nothing to complain about here. 4.35

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Dumont

Finally got a bit of my Michigan loot from last year since family can visit. Barrel is huge but still the fudge shines. Hints of espresso alongside the maple sweetness trailing at the end. 4.4

Look what I found tucked away in the cellar? Can’t believe it held up as well as it did. Barrel faded a fair bit but the maple still has a grip. Great as always

Who says you have to rough it at the cottage? A barrel of funk nestled alongside dried apples, overripe pear and candied lemon peel. Sunday by the lake can’t get much better

Quite nice. A lot of cantaloupe and orange. One of the better Mikkeller brews coming out of Brunswick. 3.9
