KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) de Naray
Been in the cellar for a minute and didn’t suffer! Rich chocolate, coffee and bourbon with a noticeable but not heavy maple flavor. I love this one.

Backwoods Bastard (2022) de Naray
Weird glassware because we were at my mother-in-law’s house lol. This is always a good one and after a couple years in the cellar even better. Rich malt balanced out nicely with oak and bourbon with a fair amount of carbonation for the style.

Had this in the cellar since 2016 and wow, even better than when I drank the first bottle back then. Just a great English-style Old Ale with tons of malt complexity and citrus flavors in the mid-palate. 11%er.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) de Naray
Happy T-day! 🦃 I passed on the pie and had dessert beer instead. 😜 17.3%, chocolatey, rich, with nice barrel character. If you try it, definitely let it warm up a bit so all the flavors come out. Looking forward to aging the other bottles in the cellar.

Belgium-Pt. 4: Bought this one at the brewery too. Okay, but the elderflower is quite strong, almost pollen-like. Doesn’t balance out as well as I’d like.

Belgium-Pt. 3: Bought this at the brewery and drank later at the hotel. Really wish I’d gotten another bottle. A nice level of sour with strong apricot character.

Belgium-Pt. 3: Excellent. So well rounded and multidimensional. All flavors are playing nicely together.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut (2019) de Naray
Belgium-Pt. 3: Verrrry nice. The extra age has made this so complex and rounded off some sour edges. Delightful light and “fluffy” carb. Nice light oak character.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio de Naray
Belgium-Pt. 2: Just the best Cherry Kriek I’ve had. All things in balance. Perfect richness from the fruit against the sour, and complexities all the way across the palate.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2019) de Naray
Belgium-Pt. 2: So good. Lambic with Merlot wine grapes — so much like a sparkling red wine.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2018) (Brandy) de Naray
Belgium-Pt. 2: This might have been my favorite out of many favorites at Cantillon. The cognac barrel really lends some nice complexities to the lambic. Excellent.

Belgium-Pt. 2: Quite good, but I wished it had more age on it.

Single Barrel 1-Year Lambic de Naray
Belgium-Pt. 2: Good, but a very one-dimensional basic young sour. Interesting to taste what their base is for all their beers though, and to see how the older blend added to it creates the magical gueuze.

Belgium-Pt. 2: Very nice and clean Gueuze. This blend of the young and aged lambic is more like a fine white wine. Best basic Gueuze I’ve had.

This is really good. The bourbon barrel doesn’t come through that strongly for me, but it’s a great Imperial Porter, and the maple and vanilla are really nice on it.
