KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Fitzhugh
An impressive level of spiciness, but it doesn't linger and mess up the palate for the next sip. Well executed!

Very well executed. A slightly sweet woodiness gives way to smooth bourbon barrel notes. Very well done without being boozy.

Strong maple syrup notes with subtle cinnamon throughout. Exceptionally well executed and balanced

A true hodgepodge: starts with woody notes found in sours aged in oak foeders, then a quick blast of bitterness before finishing with stone fruit notes. Not for everyone, but quite intriguing!

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA Fitzhugh
Barrel aging smooths out the 120 minute into a very approachable and deceptively good beer. Dangerously good.

Citrusy with delicate, tart limey notes at the finish. Refreshing.

Delicately sweet with a faintly bitter blend of malt and barley. The barrel aging helps tie together what could otherwise be a discordant beer. Well executed.

Starts with a pleasant mix of sour notes and agave. Transitions into a heavier blend of tequila and grapefruit. A rich, aromatic, exceptionally well executed beer, and one of the most unique ones I've ever had.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Fitzhugh
Thick and richly fudgy, but the maple notes and bourbon barrel flavors are missing. If they could be enhanced, this would be a spectacular specimen.

An excellent recreation of a margarita. A little citrusy with light tequila notes and an excellent, slippery texture from the salt. Impressively well executed.

Smells like fall. Starts with a little wave of pumpkin followed by a pleasant blend of spices. One of the better editions in recent years.

Finishes with a typical dogfish hop character like 60 or 90 minute. Until then, sadly disappointing.

2022 edition (while the Palo Santo cask is being refurbished): lighter and more stone fruity with less of the wood aged flavor than a typical PSM. A 4.5 on draft.

Olde School (Bourbon Barrel Aged) Fitzhugh
Barrel aging adds some sweetness and neutralizes the bitterness that's common to barleywines

Tart fruit notes with a little bitterness. A little too subtle, but that may be preventing too many bitter notes
