Massive Impy Stout w/ lots of dark bitter chocolate, molasses & coffee. Great final bitterness, on the dry side. Mouthfeel & coffee flavours remind me of a Greek coffee, w/ all that slurry, clay-like, fine ground coffee at the bottom of the cup.

Strong burnt caramel aroma, w/ a light whiff of licorice & brioche. More caramel in the flavour, along w/ herbal notes & orange marmalade on liquor. Fine final bitterness, w/ hints of spicy booze & seared orange peel.

Liquid Confidence / Confidential Alonso
Perfect balance sweet/bitter character, w/ a liquor-like aftertaste. Cocoa, molasses, licquor bonbons and an interesting warmth bestowed by the Chipotle peppers it is brewed with. It's not hot: it's an old bottle, wonderfully kept, but the heat of the

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles Alonso
Wow! Ultra aromatic pepper scent, mix of green, pink & white peppers, w/ a herbal backdrop. Some citrus, mild dry tartness, floral finish that reminds to that of the pink pepper husk. Just great!

Overripe raspberry-infused vingar, w/ balsamic+damp wood notes. Bone dry. Raspberry, hints of pineapple. Strong tannic attack, that dries up your lips, while a Sharp twang of acidity covers your tongue & gums. Some herbal hints still make it through.

This is one of my favourite lambic beers. So smooth & packed with pinneaple nuances! Vinous edge, hay, grass... Great!

Strong aroma of raisins and black licorice; faint oxidized malt: it's an old bottle. Raisins, burnt caramel flavour; licorice is almost balsamic. Lightly roasted coffee & a hint of final smoke.

Ah! My cellar still yields some jewels from its darkest corners. Coffee greets the nose: roast barley, charred cereal husk; nutty spice. Light body due to the long slumber in the bottle. More coffee & molasses flav, spicy rum-like hint. Smooth, balanced&

Fairly strong aroma of coriander & orange peel. Spicy Belgian yeast as well. Body is very light. Not bad, but you'd expect something better from the folks @ To Øl. Paired w/ baked monkfish, parmentier & peas.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) Alonso
Lime, light ferruginous vinegary scent, cianide -peach stone- aromas. Tart, sulphury lime flavour; soot, welding spark, faint tannic grape skin...

My father was the sneak that informed me that this beer was sold @lidl supermarket at a ridiculous price. Riddle solved: it's now brewed under license by Mahou/San Miguel, current owners of Founders. The result is a less aromatic, less tasty take. Now it

This Kuro -Black- is a 16,5%ABV version. It's so old that I can't even remember where I bought it. BUT: it's awesome. I swear. Sweet molasses give way to coffeeish & bitter cocoa notes to finish w/ an endless, merciless bitter herbal finish. Love it.

Fruity hoppy scent, a bit of spicy hay. Peachy & spicy hop flavors, ends up w/ a mild yet long & persistent bitter finish. Refreshing, light-bodied but flavourful just the same.

Enticing copper-brown color. Sturdy malt backbone drags a tepid, rosey floral & resiny hop flavour w/ some grapefruit thrown in. Round and nicely crafted.

Nice kaffestout. 6ABV: Not very heavy in alcohol content. Bold coffee flavors without being too roasted, neither acrid. Notes of licorice, as well. A good afternoon sipper.

Sweetened husky roasted coffee & soluble cereal powder aromas. Toffee, charred cereal flavors. Light mouthfeel in the middle body. Hazelnut aftertaste. A bit too carbonated.

Zwanze 2020 - Brettrave Alonso
Great dinner paired w/ this surprising lambic. Nose is moist, almost moldy, earthy beetroot w/ a faint funky edge. Beetroot through & through, moist earth, followed suit by a flash of sulphur & a long, dry, roasty bitterness.

Nice flowery aromas of candied grapes. Light earthy, seed-like grape flavor & skin-like tartness. Ends up with a persistent tannic & dry sourness.

Sulphury raspberry aromas mixed w/ what it seems to be wild strawberries. Mild sourness and lots of tart red fruit notes. The sweeter -if that adjective fits here- of today's bunch. See you tomorrow.

Never had a blue honeysuckle beer before. So it turns to taste like a blackberry with a herbal edge to me. Beer has a tannic, persistent woody sourness reminiscent of that of red fruit seeds. Leaves an oily mouthfeel behind. Odd.

Syrupy cherries through & through, w/ that extra sour kick that's Cantillon signature feature. Vinous black cherries linger along a tannic quality & a sweet twang that fights w/ the sourness to see who wins. Sourness does.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2020) Alonso
Moldy, funky flavors of St. Gilloise combine wonderfully w/ soft rind cheeses. Fruity dry finish cleanses the grease that coats the palate. Win-win!

Flowery aromas of apricot peel & ghostly acetic feeling. I can detect fruit sweetness just during a milisec. Afer that, a medium but very long tart mouthfeel brings apricot stone flavors & a hint of that fruit's flesh to end up fairly dry.

Warming up for Zwanze Day 2020! Light sulphuric nose. Light tartness wrapped up in a chalky, dry mouthfeel. Faint citrusy flavors & some funky wood yield way to a long, mildly tart & clean finish.
