So happy to finally get to have this. I was on the hunt for a while. Excellent! Maybe more subtle than I imagined. Blends fruit flavor very well.

Surprised I haven’t logged this one yet- this is my last bottle from the case I stupidly bought in 2018. Anyway, it’s pretty good. Kind of like a sweeter and smaller KBS. From 11/26/18. Ages well.

Funky at the start, but mellows out and has a nice traditional quality. I think this is probably the best of the style that I’ll ever have, but I’m not sure that the style is so explosive or anything.

Kriek 100% Lambic (2023) Barnes
Wooo more Cantillon! Compared to other traditional krieks I’ve had, this one’s more mellow and balanced. Not too sour. Smells and tastes very fruity. Vastly improves as it warms up, which I find brings out the cherry and yeast flavors.

It does accomplish what it sets out to do by being a raspberry and dark chocolate dessert stout, but it’s not to my taste so much. It’s not a beer I look forward to. Rather cloying. Brewed on 9/29/20.

Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (Mothership Series) Barnes
Hitting the spot, but some sips are too boozy, even after all this time. Overall it’s a nice velvety blend of sweetness and bitterness.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Barnes
The 2019 release just doesn’t do it for me. It seems more coffee-like and acidic, and like it’s missing something. It just doesn’t taste that good.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Barnes
The good stuff in bombers from 2018, not the bad stuff in little bottles from 2019. I prefer KBS, but this is a nice sweet take on it.

KBS is one of my favorites, if not my very favorite. It’s über-balanced for a huge stout.

Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout (2020) Barnes
I was gaga about this beer when I first got it. Maybe it hasn’t aged super gracefully, or maybe the hype has worn off. It’s kind of bitter and RIS-like, and kind of chewy. Good, not great.

Bottled on (4?)/23/19. I didn’t like it when I had a fresh one, and I’m still not a fan now that it’s aged. Time may have mellowed it out a bit, but it’s still too thin, too sweet (yet also too bitter), and way too expensive.

Maple Barrel Aged Frangelic Mountain Brown Barnes
Bottled on 1/21/21. A weird old beer. Smells like the coffee, tastes like the maple and brown. Pretty sweet and strong. Not bad though.

Honestly, getting more Cantillon is going to reduce me to tears. I am so happy to have this. It is not necessary my style, but I can still tell this is top quality.

I don’t think it improves normal KBS. It’s still good, but the blueberry addition kind of cheapens it and makes it more like candy.

Definitely not an IPA anymore, more like a barleywine. But that’s fine with me! I do prefer 120 minute, though. Might as well go bigger and badder.

I haven’t liked many of the KBS variants, but this one is solid. I don’t get much cherry from it, but it’s deep and flavorful.

Not great. Tastes like honey with some spiciness at the end.

R.I.P. in peace Founders Detroit. This one is okay, and seems to have held up to the test of time rather well. I think I single handedly supported Founders Detroit throughout covid. Shouldda bought more.

Smells kind of like fruit peel of some sort. Taste is caramel and that certain quality that all Founders BA beers seem to have. Boozy, but balanced by a nice ever-present yet not overblown bitterness.
