Is this a mead or my mother's blackcurrant juice? Not what I expected, but drinkable for sure

Initial nose has a heavy berry presence, with a worrying whiff of raisin. Fortunately taste rolls you over with dark ripe berries with nice tartness and smooth sweetness. A lot of sweetness...but it still remains balanced. Unexpected curio discovery! Nice
