French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Sweet maple, vanilla, and spicy cinnamon. I usually don't care for maple or cinnamon beers, but I really like this.

Nails the maple syrup unlike any other maple beer I’ve had. Best had in small quantities.

Definitivt smarrig, men oss emellan föredrar jag brorsan med ganska god marginal.

Wow, great cinnamon scent. This is a real dessert beer, spicy with dark dadle marmelade. A bit onesided and intense but at the same time kicking in doors and screaming "Beer o'clock motherfxxker"

Delicious! Probably the strongest maple flavor I've had in a beer with a trailing barrel flavor. I get a bit of a caramel flavor. It is pretty sweet with a hint of bitterness upfront.

The prominence of the French toast & booze elements over the (typically) somewhat cloying taste of Scotch ale is a positive.

A little too sweet, behind the syrup some real good flavor is lurking

Has a weird taste that I think comes from barrel aged. Otherwise, very good!

Smells light French toast. Slightly sweet and ‘syrupy’ but has a slight aftertaste.

For an 11.1% Wee Heavy, this isn't bad. But for a barrel-aged beer, the vanilla, cinnamon and maple overpower any sort of bourbon-barrel flavors.

It says maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla, but I smell some other spice on the nose. Could just be the wood from the barrel.
