Super butterscotch-y, really really sweet. Not my fave. Very artificial.

SO MUCH FLAVOR, yes all caps is necessary. If you love French toast and want to drink it then this is the beer for you. It is well balanced flavors, there’s just too much flavor for me. Well done brewers!

Tastes like a bad beer with a ton of fake maple syrup poured in

definitely tastes exactly like french toast (mainly in the aftertaste), but every sip of this made me wince so bad that i had to order a different beer

It’s sweeter than maple syrup. Smells delicious but not something I would drink again. - @ Founders in Grand Rapids. Incredible spot. Rating my be lower due to buyers remorse. So many great beers and this counted as 2. 11.% ABV!!

Terrible. Usually founders can pull off the breakfast flavors but this is a miss to me.

Can’t taste the Ale at all. French toast juice. Good french toast flavor, but where’s the Ale?

Holy whow. No trace of barrel or base beer just Starbucks syrup.

Slightly sour somehow... Not sure if there's pipecleaner left in this draft beer or if it is meant to taste like this.

I’m not liking this / I hope it’s just my pairing / Buffalo chicken

Smells just like French toast and molasses. Nuts! OMG it’s so sweet and I think I’m drinking syrup and there are notes of licorice before the maple overwhelms you and you drown in a vat of artificial vanilla flavor ewwwww I might throw up

Backwoods Bastard is one of my very favorite beers ever. French Toast Bastard ... was not. Tastes like drinking maple syrup French toast, so success there I guess. Not for me.

Ewww. Backwoods Bastard is at the top of the list of my favorite beers. To be fair, that’s what the tap said. The french toast was a surprise. Someone dripped a vanilla candle into my beer : (

What's extremely sweet for my taste I'm sure someone will like it. And I do to my head to the brewery for coming up with a new idea. Just wasn't something for me. But I do highly recommend founders brewing. They make some truly amazing beer.

A combination of Three flavors not made for a Scottish ale are present. Cinnamon, maple, and vanilla. I was really hoping they would work together. They don’t. Mix these flavors on waffles. Not in an ale.

Absolutely horrible! Sickly sweet syrup and cinnamon. They ruined a perfectly good Backwards Bastard to make this! 🤮

This could be the worst beer ever. One sip and it went down the drain. Stop being cute and just go back to making good beer

Founders Breakfast Stout is my favorite beer, and french toast is my favorite breakfast food so I had high hopes for this. It smells and tastes just like French toast and I realized after the first sip that French toast should not be a liquid.
