French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

SO MUCH FLAVOR, yes all caps is necessary. If you love French toast and want to drink it then this is the beer for you. It is well balanced flavors, there’s just too much flavor for me. Well done brewers!

Almost disturbing how closely this tastes like French toast.

Black and sweet just like French Toast! Vanilla and maple syrup and even confectioner’s sugar taste comes through big time.

Good variant but the maple is maybe a little artificial.

All maple syrup on the nose, overwhelmingly so. Opens with a flatter, lightly sweet, bitter profile that’s got some wood and bourbon. Off putting at first as it contrasts with the smell, but it does settle into a sweet buttery finish. Pretty good beer.

Delicious! Probably the strongest maple flavor I've had in a beer with a trailing barrel flavor. I get a bit of a caramel flavor. It is pretty sweet with a hint of bitterness upfront.
