French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Not a fan of most pastry stouts but this is the exception.

What to say. I love Founders Backwoods Bastard. I love a pancake loaded with syrup and cinnamon can be fun too. Not sure I want it all in my Backwoods Bastard, but it is tasty nonetheless. The Big Guy.

Basically a maple syrup beer. Fantastic but 5 oz is all I will need. Smells and tastes of maple syrup.

Wild Founders... Tastes like breakfast had a one night stand with a Guinness and had this bastard love child of a beer. The 11% is tucked well. This brew is syrupy and heavy...I'd drink it with waffles any morning. World Cup with KOLL!! APD Life

Good stuff. Cinnamon and vanilla up front with a hint of maple on the back end.

Hmm, how to score? They aren't lying, it tastes like French toast and nails it, but sweet for my tastes. Maple is biggest thing here with minor cinnamon and vanilla. Bummed I don't taste much of base I love, adjuncts shine.

BD 9/19/22. Awesome big maple syrup, works well with the caramel and oaky vanilla bourbon barrel. Mod+ sweet taste, lt bitter, v mild alc warmth. Med-bigger body, full creamy feel, lt soft carb, v mild slick texture. Real tasty, enjoyable & unique 498417

Good, real good! Subtle barrel, smooth for 11%. Not the biggest "barrel ager" guy, so this was right in the strike zone for me. Thx Johnnie J.

Sweet maple syrup cinnamon...liquid French toast. Thin, tasty, very sweet so a little goes a long way. Good one to share...unless you ❤ maple syrup brews, then you need to hoard this one!

Breakfast in a bottle. Reminds me of when we bought bourbon barrel he’d syrup for our French toast.

Strong maple scent. Very sweet. Seems these flavors would be better in a stout than a week heavy, but it works.

Blind tasting rated a 4 but had I known what this was, I likely would have rated it higher. :P I called it creme brule (and likely southern tier) but french toast works for me. Yum! Most interesting so far in our December beers.
