4 Giants IPA

IPA - Imperial / Double

We’ve made a lot of imperial IPAs over the years and, in turn, have had a lot of arguments over which one is the absolute best. So, to settle this once and for all, our brewers mashed up four of our favorite recipes into the ultimate imperial IPA. 4 Giants boasts aggressive bitterness balanced by a malty, sweet backbone while huge aromatics come courtesy of the seven American hop varieties.

Decent DIPA. Big hop big malt. Balances fairly well.

Pours a clear golden orange with an off white head. Piney citrusy aroma. Medium body. Dank and bitter with a dry resinous flavor. Finishes with a lingering citrus rind bitter aftertaste. Malty backbone. Hides the alcohol well.

Big but gentle. Smooth, soft, enough going on in the palate to be interesting but not overwhelming. Aromatic, hint of citrus and fruit, floral, with a mellow bitter finish. Worth the wait!

You can taste the extra booze in this one, and it’s maltier than I’d prefer. Great fruity nose.

Haven’t had a Founders brew in many moons. Big but not boozy. Great balance of hops and malt.

Very malty, very hoppy, very fresh, a very clear amber color, and very very smooth at a very good price makes this an exceptional beer!

Not particularly distinctive in any way (because it's a "mashup" of recipes with seven hop varieties), but excellent in every way. A classic, old-school, bitter, West Coast DIPA with some piney hop flavors, which I miss in today's styles.

Smooth, hoppy, malty, sweet, floral and mildly bitter with pine and grapefruit to round it out. Nice balance. Very good.

INSANELY bitter on the back end but the sweet notes make it more balanced than expected. Lighter on the mouthfeel...incredibly nuanced, I’m getting something different every sip. I like this beer a lot.

Great to have this one around! Piney, malty, sweet and bitter hops...well balanced. Might be moving to a 4.75...
