Not nearly as bad as some of my friends said in their check-ins, but maybe that's bc I let it sit for a while. Definitely a lot of pine and some strong heat on the back end.

Roast scent and bitter taste. The sweetness typical of barleywines is briefly present in the first half.

Finding a 2 year old barley wine at the bottle shop - winning.

Bready, malty, roasty. Probably 2 years have been to the detriment. Yuk.

Started off like a BIPA with hop bitterness but as it warmed the boozy, sweet flavours of dried fruit came through to contrast. Definitely one that grows as it warms and by the end a delight.

Bitter on the backend, a little hoppy, but really smooth and enough malt to be the predominant flavor. Could do a lot worse.

Just wow. Been a while since I had a Founder’s high ABV beer and a great reminder of their decades of knowledge and flawless execution.

Hopefully this was better 2 years ago? The beers you find in the back of the beer fridge!

Roasted malts and sweet hops. Strong with a potent flavor. Round and rich.

The hops have smoothed out of the years. Much easier to drink now.

Nice malt/hop ratio with caramel, piney hop, dark malt, dried fruits, light toffee, some grapefruit and toasty notes, hint of figs. Medium bittersweet, medium to full body. Bitter(sweet), hoppy and malty, firm flavour. My preferred configuration for BW.
