Cellared almost 8 years… definitely mellowed out but easily the best of this Founders bunch

This bottle is still pretty fresh tasting. Bourbon sweet notes. Dark and rich but thin. Java is noticeable.

Wake-up beer. Strongly bitter coffee but that's kinda what I'm looking for

Coffee is completely gone as is much of the barrel character, still a good stout.

Bitterness dies as it warms. Pretty mellow barrel at this point.

Chocolate sauce & caramel & a bit of coffee - at this point. Bourbon and barrel gone. It’s a delicious stout but probably makes to hold onto only for verticals.

Holding up better than the ‘15. Lotsa chocolate. Coffee pretty faded.

Was a nice tan head a sec ago...get lots of chocolate syrup? Tiny bit metallic...lingers all over, brightish. Hmm, it’s a bit off somehow, too bright.

Still delicious, but this one may have sat a bit too long (nearly five years). The usual delicious KBS notes, but lacking the richness I’m used to. Still a full body and a really good beer. Lower than a 4 at this point, but I can’t rate KBS any lower.
